Who knows what to believe anymore:
"While another meeting is planned, hockey fans shouldn't get their hopes up. A source close to the talks said he was not very optimistic after Wednesday's meeting.
The issue, of course, continues to be the league's insistence on a salary cap and the union's determination to avoid one."

"No progress! That's as blunt as one source inside the negotiation was in describing to Sportsnet Wednesday's meeting between the NHL and NHLPA.
The key issues remain the same with the NHL's unrelenting stance on a hard salary cap league-wide the main obstacle. The source says many ideas have been thrown around, however, this latest round of discussions in Toronto didn't offer anything that might bridge the philosophical gap between the two sides."

At some point you have to figure the posturing is over, especially given the 11th hour these talks are in. With that said these comments aren't very encouraging.
I'm still going to remain optimistic until I see the "season cancelled" headline.
