Maybe we don't like corsi, where he was 1-9, but he was on for zero shots for and 7 against. Gusev went 2-14, and 1-10.

I know Goose has a couple goals, I know they make pretty moves with the puck, but their #'s on the season are dreadful.

My question is why are they staying together.

Isn't Bratt responsible for both his goals, though?

It's not like he's a spectator to Goose.

That's why I like having them together 'cause you can see the creativity on the ice.

The main problem is instead of putting someone Defensively-Responsible like ZACHA(for example) with those two, they put a friggin' Plug(Rooney) who drags them down both offensively AND Defensively.

Are we ready to admit yet that Goose is a 5v5 disaster no matter who be plays with? Come to think of it, it's not like he's PP fire either. No one is.

All around terrible. Our "best"/least bad period of the season so far and we still could neither score nor keep it clean.

The fact he could be a rich man's Damien Brunner is starting to worry me, I won't deny that. Thank goodness it's only a two-year deal.

Of course it would be nice to see him when the system isn't a complete five-alarm tire fire.

Just another addition to the astronomically long list of reasons why Hynes is an idiot.

He's had flashes of skill plays/creativity. But also stretches where he just spends shifts kinda floating in the dzone. But IMO hes shown promise which is more than pretty much the rest of the roster can say. Maybe if there was any representation of structure in their game they wouldn't spend so much time in their own end and just tossing the puck out of the zone aimlessly to at least get a clear, and would mount more of an offensive attack with possession. Thus gusev could actually be in a position to do what he was brought in to do.
I don't want to hear about structure issues with Gusev when his #'s are way worse then the rest of the teams.

He has zero interest in trying to win the puck back from the opposition.

Obviously skilled, but incredibly soft. I have serious concerns here.

Not to mention no Andy Greene the last couple games...I guess people can cool it thinking he's not an NHL player and the D would be so much better without him.
I mean with him they’ve gotten absolutely manhandled. They haven’t given up 4 goals without him. The team would be fine without him if Shero did anything to fix the left side.

Are mean, are anybody's numbers really good? Everything sucks, everyone sucks except a couple players for a few shifts.
Zacha Hughes Simmonds had a strong night, Hall with strong #'s, then a bunch of guys with below 50%, but respectable #'s. Then you have Rooney, Gusev Bratt. With Rooney having the best #s of the bunch.

And this goes for the season as well. Gusev and Bratt's #'s are at the level where they should not be in the lineup.

But Zacha is already bringing that responsibility to Hughes's wing, and that does seem to be working well.

Do you break up Coleman and Zajac, and throw him with them? But there goes the best defensive line we have.

Bruins scored a couple early goals then sat back and clogged the shooting lanes. Not too mention completely outmuscled the devils. Home teams will win 10/10 vs a hynes lineup with this strategy.

Here is a big part of the disconnect between our pre season expectations and the results we are now seeing: The players we acquired are not as good as we thought they were.

Hughes is a small 18 year old who is having difficulty adjusting.

Gusev is incredibly soft.

Subban I imagine has lost a step. He's great with the puck, but guys speed by him quite a bit.

All 3 guys have talent, Hughes will certainly get better with time, Gusev might, but I have some serious questions, Subban he's the best of the 3 right now, but he is not getting better with time.

Might throw Hall into this mix too, as he is not playing at the MVP level we all hoped we could expect.

While I agree with you that expectations were too high, and certainly all of our players are too soft...
I think we've yet to see any lines gel, I think our top line has been terrible, and most importantly our God awful defense got only marginally better, because we added more of what we had... Another high risk high reward guy that adds to the chaos.

Our goaltending is still mediocre at best.

Put this with a coach who doesn't know how to build momentum by establishing lines and giving them time to develop chemistry.... And this is what you get.

If severson and the d And the tenders can settle, we can turn it around.

Gusev is basically an older NHL rookie. It is going to take time for him to adjust. Like Jack is wont be over night.

We have bigger issues then guys figuring out the NHL.

You guys are way too quick to turn on players.

If the topic is: Why are we playing so far under our expectations?

Which is the topic.

I think he is at the top of the list.

Don't forget Ty Smith. We thought we were guaranteed to be adding a top 4 defenseman into the lineup as well.

The lines have been together the last 2 games.

Now I thought we played well enough vs Edm.

And I thought we played OK tonight.

I'm also not thinking the sky is falling, but guys need to finish on chances, and we need to get a win.

goes to my thought that as bad as Hynes is .. this team isn't built to succeed in the NHL... it has small men all up and down the lineup.... its still a rebuild.... I would trade hall now.
