Korenar played against Belarus, so I don't think Skarek has a win yet (though he may after this game against the swiss). In this case, I should have 2 less points and be T3 with FinPanda, with LainePeg moving into sole possession of 2nd.

Unless, did Korenar get pulled? I'm looking at the boxscore on the TSN app, and it says Korenar was the only goalie

Korenar pulled. Skarek got the win in relief. Just like Skarek got pulled today so Korenar I believe will get credit for the win today.

Here we are after 4 games for each team. My turn to have the biggest day with 11 points to vault me from 7th to 2nd, mostly off the backs of my American duo of Mittelstadt and Fox with their 6 points. Khabby also a typical, very successful day for him with 9 points to open up his gap at the top. A little more spread out then it was yesterday but anyone in that trailing pack can still realistically catch up. A lot will be determined by how many extra games players get in by playing in the semi-finals and medal games as opposed to being bounced out after 1 QF game. Happy New Year everyone!

Very winnable quarter final for my fins against the Czechs, then hopefully I can sort of cheer for both Finland and Canada in the next game. Altho I can barely still get a respectable finish in this pool. Oh well. Very few interesting hockey left for a habs fan to watch this year :(

Let's hope Czech doesn't pull of the win then. Would be unfortunate to have your whole team out after today. Huge day ahead of us to see who is set up well to win it

Well I couldnt have picked a worse country

Very surprising. On paper that team Finland was amazing.

That was still lots of fun. Thanks for running this zemgus, looking forward to next year.

Huge day with lots of movement and lots of team's players either moving on to play 2 more games, or being done collecting points. A 15 point day from me vaults me into first place and gives me a bit of a cushion over Khabby. Scorevat had the next best day with 10 points to get himself back into the race after a tough start, and FinPanda tallied 9 points to separate himself from the group and put himself firmly in 3rd place. Since what teams are left will play a huge role in how your placement changes over the final 2 days, I decided to breakdown how many players each team has left.

Zemgus26 - 4F, 3D, 1G = 8
Khabby - 4F, 2D, 1G = 7
FinPanda - 5F, 2D, 1G = 8
LainePeg - 4F, 3D, 0G = 7
czechcanadian - 6F, 2D, 1G = 9
Hutton - 5F, 3D, 1G = 9
Tapu Coco - 4F, 2D, 1G = 7
Scorevat53 - 4F, 1D, 0G = 5
thewindowwasher - 6F, 3D, 0G = 9
TakinMaattaOnMyRide - 0

Although the top-3 have separated from the pack, there seems to be a group of 5 people who can still realistically make a push for a top-3 spot with a strong finish.

With 3 games left, I lead Khabby by 2 points still at the top, with FinPanda still in striking distance. Then we have a very close race for the 4th-8th spots.

One more day left! I have opened up my lead to 5 points over Khabby. FinPanda, led by a hat-trick from Batherson, has put him right behind Khabby and opened up his lead over the pack. Only 4 points separating 4th to 8th so those 5 spots can change around a lot with tomorrow. Reminder, if there is a tie in points, the edge will go to the team with more goals.

And here comes FinPanda. Jumps into 2nd with a Frederic hat-trick. 3 points back of 1st, with plenty of time left in this one and has 2 high scoring Canadians and the starting goalie in the next one. Eep.

Only positive thing for me in this tournament are my Americans and Canadians.

So so close in the race for first between me, FinPanda and Khabby.

Zemgus26 - Soderlund, Fabbro, Hart left - (TIEBREAKER: 16 goals)
FinPanda - Raddysh, Batherson, Gustavsson left - (TIEBREAKER: 25 goals)
Khabby - Pettersson, Dahlin left - (TIEBREAKER: 16 goals)

Wide open. A LOT may come down to who wins as Hart vs. Gustavsson will be a 4 point swing between me and FinPanda. I'll probably need Hart to get the W, as he has the tiebreaker and the more potent offensive players. Khabby isn't out of it either though with arguably the two most talented players in the tournament with a game left. Should be a great final!

Unexpectedly had to go and just finished watching now, what an end. And the winner of the Zemgus26 1st annual pool is me! :D

FinPanda and Khabby sure had me worried up till the end though! Thanks to everyone who joined and made this a fun experience to be a part of. Hope to see you all back next year!

A bit late on this, but I just wanted to say thank you (and congrats!) to Zemgus on a wonderful job running this pool. Would love to play again next year if the opportunity arises.

Just can't believe I was in 3rd for the entire tournament until the quarters, and then I plummeted

Solid performance by FinPanda for coming in relief. The 5 points he was missing were in round 1 ;)
