I'd prefer we just re-sign Tlusty instead of hunting in the UFA market. Our top-6 is fine granted E. Staal and Semin regain form from a couple seasons ago. We could restructure the bottom-6 to produce better results, however.

Its the D that Francis should be trying to shore up. Hainsey needs a competent partner, allowing Liles-Murphy to log bottom pairing minutes and thrive.

Getting rid of Ward should be top priority as well.

Stop trying to make sense. This is the #hcanes board after all. Besides, you of all people, living in this province, should know that proper defense is constructed with elite defensemen like Phaneuf, Belov, Bouwmeester, the Schultz twins, Carson, $3m per year Babchuk sitting in the press box cause he was #8 on the depth chart and wouldn't waive his NMC, etc.

The two Alberta teams are a murderer's row for visitors.

If there's one thing that Canes fans should not ever poke fun at, it's other team's defense. This past season is the first time in years that the Canes have had anything even resembling an NHL level defense.

Remember McBain? Sanguinetti? Corvo? Gleason? Harrison? MAB?

All guys logging lots of minutes. All guys now either out of the NHL or close to it.

Brad Richards, Nikolai Kulemin and Mike Weaver is fine to me. Bring Caron and Redmond as a depth, work on Harrison, Tlusty and Ward trade.

Hainsey- Weaver as a shutdown pairing is good.

i don't understand why people pencil in possession anchors who can't play defense alongside jeff skinner. ribeiro and lecavalier are two of the worst defensive centers in hockey, why would anyone want them alongside skinner of all people?
