Multiple people have said the team just looks better and more confident in front of V2. When Blackwood is out there the team seems to play tighter.
Everybody in that room knows he sucks or at the very least is not the superior goalie. Especially the guys that have been here through his suck the last two years before this, which seems to only be getting worse by the year.

No one is gonna say it and they may even like him as a person and be friends with him, but if the fans know he sucks, the teammates know he sucks.

It's also funny that somebody (Wood) said that Vanecek is the backbone of our team. And not ''Both goalies, they're our backbone''. Because there are times where guys would make sure they give a shout out to Blackwood too.

Settled in and kind of started to gradually control 5v5 once they got the icebreaker with that PPG.

Great to get a win like this one but I don't know why the reaction is so positive - the Devils really did not play all that well, Vanecek bailed them out, and on the offensive end they got some bounces they haven't been getting. It is nice to see the Devils winning this sort of game - they probably lost ten like it last year - and it's also nice to have a win where the result isn't in doubt in the final ten minutes, not sure about the last time that happened but I think it's been a month - still, though, Siegenthaler-Hamilton was destroyed in the first two periods and the Graves-Severson weren't much better.

reaction positive i think is simply that it's just nice to enjoy a lopsided win score wise and not get caught up in charts and stats and overanalyzing until later

grab a beer, its early

Because people like seeing the team actually win, not just xWin?

Can we call up Schmid tonight for the game tomorrow?
Unfortunately, Schmid has been awful since being returned to Utica.

But the sample size of games he's played this year is still kind of small.

I think he's been blown out in 2 of the 3 games he's played. Maybe he's 4 now?

It didn't stop Blackwood from coming up here in 18-19 when he was struggling that very same year in the AHL. His AHL statline this year looks like Blackwood's in the NHL.

I'm willing to go with baby steps and settling for playing Blackwood only when NEEDED, but none of this bullshit where Vanecek can't get 3 games in a row if Blackwood is healthy. He's done not one god damn thing to get a significant number of games played. And he's started 55% of the games he's been dressed for this year. That's the real JOKE.

No shit - really? What I'm reacting to is people are saying the team played great. They didn't, and I don't know what they were watching to say that.

Yea they weren’t good but like you said it was nice the game wasn’t in doubt the entire time. Last time I felt like that was Chicago a month ago I think.

This game had some similarities with the first Boston game, only in reverse.

We actually got saves tonight and the game went the other way. And we certainly didn't outplay them like we did Boston that night.

They also didn't break through as much as we did when we came out and made it close in the 3rd period.

The 1st period of both games was also similar, outside of the fact that I think we scored a 1st period goal in that game led 1-0 going into the 2nd period and were outshooting them pretty good. Tonight it was scoreless going into the 2nd, with them outshooting us pretty good.

Yea him and Daws have both been very underwhelming in the AHL this year unfortunately.

I’m pretty sure both are at the very least just as bad as the decrepit #29, who I’m not even convinced is considerably better right now than Jon Gillies.

This was as complete a game OFFENSIVELY as we have seen this season.

It wasn't overly perfect as the team was hemmed in at times and only VV standing tall kept the Wings from scoring and gaining momentum....

....but overall, it was a very good ROAD WIN.

Jack Hughes was as always phenomenal.

Dougie Hamilton was doing the Dougie.

Nico the Birthday Boy had a nice Birthday.

Bratt actually got a point tonight so that point streak continues.

But the most impressive of all?

Holtz with a goal and an assist.

We have all said that we were not getting enough goals from our supporting cast....WELL THERE YA GO! :)

I am beyond pleased at tonight's win.

It makes up for the absolute demolition of the U.S. national team (Juniors) (bleh)....

Let's keep it going and bury those Pretenders in NY next! (after St.Louis, of course) :devdance::devdance::devdance:

We’ve got one more game before them. St. Louis tomorrow night.

The decrepit #29 will be almost definitely be in.

It’ll be a hostile crowd if he sucks again. Especially coming off this game tonight and they had a short fuse with him the other day after fanning on that puck.

They did play great....OFFENSIVELY.

Defensively? Not so much.

At many times during the game, they got hemmed in.

And only VV being a brick wall prevented this game from being totally different than what we witnessed.

Hockey’s a weird game. I don’t think it was a crisp game at all but they scored on the PP and seized chances in transition. Very last year NYR sort of game.
Even then, we were probably better 5on5 than last year's Rangers
