Mazz is right in that they should have cleared the puck about 3 times prior to the 3rd goal allowed.

Like Dano says, bang it off the glass.
If they did it doesn't go to OT.

Hope it motivates them to play a complete 60 tomorrow.

BTW, Bryce has been great on TV.

I did.

No sane individual can say that giving up 2 goals with what, 90 seconds left is acceptable. There was zero reason for the Devils to not win this game in regulation. None. More people would be freaking out over that if it was a division opponent and not a team from the Atlantic.

Sure, our offense was good enough, although we fanned a few shots but for this team to be truly competitive and where we want it to go, this defense cannot give the performance that I saw tonight.

Maybe you're fine with mediocrity but I'm not. I'm sure all of that will be rectified by the off-season or the deadline but as is, this defense isn't good enough.

Sorry to burst your bubble, Glen.

I added a few more to my post that you missed so here they are :

And what's this IF it was a continuous OT crap?

Are you a Devils fan or a Sens fan? Come on, man....

And 7-2 is Mediocrity? Well shiznit. SIGN ME UP FOR MEDIOCRITY THEN! :monkey:

It was hilarious at one point where I think Karlsson had the puck and was just drifting back toward his own end just taking his time as if the Sens were playing for the shootout......the Crowd was rightly pissed off and booing and then Severson just DESTROYED him against the boards and the Crowd roared in delight.:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Oh yeah we did. It happened right in front of me; but I thought the refs were going to call something on us.

Crowd was not having it with Ottawa playing keep away.

Being a fan doesn't mean I'm not allowed to point out flaws in the team I support.

There is being a fan, and there is homerism.

I'm not a fan of Ric Flair either, but I think I became really soured on him after he ''Retired'' in that match with Shawn Michaels, then started wrestling again in TNA a year or two later. I didn't mind him as an on-screen character at that point, but I couldn't stand to see him competing anymore, especially after that pretty nice ending against Shawn Michaels. I remember when he was beat down by Chris Jericho, sometime between his ''Retirement'' and his departure to TNA. It was basically one of those impromptu matches, without it being a match. Usually when a guy is retired, they might take a sweet chin music or a stunner or a tombstone, and be done with it. He was actually going back and forth with Jericho, but mostly it was just Jericho going at him and even a vintage Ric Flair blading to bust himself open, right before WWE went TV-PG. He basically looked like he was dying to compete in another match again. I always appreciated that Shawn Michaels stay retired after he retired, not including the injury to his back, when he was still young and was injured for 4 or 5 years. And Shawn Michaels was still fun to watch when he retired and probably could have sporadically competed for quite a few more years.

I also am a big Bret Hart fan, and sided with him when he and Flair had their shoot feud back in the day. Although Bret Hart was an egotistical bastard sometimes, which I'll be the first admit. He was one of the few actual technical wrestlers that made it big, and not just a big oaf muscle head like Hogan.

I can rant about Hogan all day. He's a pretty terrible human being too. I hope he's still on the WWE blacklist.

Meh. Flair is awesome. Hogan can take a long walk off a short pier. Ultimate warrior was a pretty awful human being too.

I’m pretty ticked about the blown lead tonight but we also need to take it one step at a time here. You mention mediocrity. Shit, mediocrity is a step in the right direction considering the teams that have been iced the last several years. Where we want this team to go, there is a long way yet, but it’s going to take time and there are going to be growing pains along the way. If they’re going to make mistakes but still manage to pile up points and be competitive in the process, that’s not a bad deal at all. Just enjoy the ride. Bottom line, this is a really fun team despite their flaws.

Yes, you're 100%, "allowed to point out flaws in the team I (you) support", I just dont understand how you watched that game and honestly thought Ottawa was the better team as you claim.

Yeah this is the correct take IMO. Blowing a lead is not good, and the boys shouldn’t be happy about it, but we still deserved this win.

Seriously...we're not YET at the point where we can ***** about ugly wins and style points as if we should be some 100-point team striving for excellence. BOTH teams blew two-goal leads, it was a deserved draw with the Devils winning the skills competition. Yeah it would have been nice to have an easier win in regulation but it's okay to give the other team some credit too. That wasn't all us screwing up, Ottawa just flat dominated those 6-on-5 shifts.

Yeah that's going too far the other way. Instead of homerism, it's a overtly pessimistic viewpoint. Ottawa was in no way 'better'. In fact I think the shot total kind of flattered them at times. I wouldn't say we dominated but if it were a boxing match we'd have won by a point or two.

It wasn't so funny the next time the crowd booed Karlsson and he started a two-on-one seemingly out of nowhere. People can argue Crosby and McDavid but that dude's just flat out the best player in the league, or at least the most important one atm. Even with shanking his SO attempt.

I think the Devils played well enough to win but they also made enough mistakes where Ottawa could have deservedly won it as well. The proper ending to this game would have occurred prior to the 2006 season where both teams split the two points and nothing was won or lost.

I appreciate Flair’s overall body of work, but was just a bit annoyed by his later career. On one hand, you appreciate a guy who loves what he does and doesn’t wanna hang them up. I’m conflicted on if I can really villainize him for that.

I never cared much for the Warrior. I was a Macho Man fan really early on. I used to have a stuffed Macho Man. Whatever it was called, it wasn’t a stuffed animal, stuffed person, haha whatever. I had it in my mid-teens, which I used to get so much shit for, since it was meant for kids under 10 haha. My dog bit a hole through it a few years later haha.

Vince also has quite the closet of his own skeleton’s, but he’s kind of a necessary evil when it comes to wrestling in America. No one has ever been able to compete with him, except for a 3 year span when WCW started acquiring an already washed up Hogan, Macho Man and Flair after his first brief WWF stint. And then Vince helped put them out of business within a few years.

Are we becoming the Dallas Stars? I just know Moore and Lovejoy should never be out there in the final couple minutes left in a game when we have a lead, unless it’s a 4 goal lead.

RANDOM FUN FACT: I dated a girl in college who babysat his kids.
I hope she paid every time you went out!:P

You would think he paid a lot for those services, but he seems like a cheap bum!

My friend used to guitar tech (Roadie in street terms) for a band, that was a fairly popular band in underground music, but not a huge band. The members probably made the nationally median average salary per year, just from touring/selling albums. Which is by no means a bad living for playing 150 shows a year, making an album every 2 years, and getting to travel to cool foreign lands to play music. And that median salary didn't the money paid to travel or road allowances, so the members were grossing $50k in personal income, or maybe even $60k in a good year. My friend was getting paid $250 bucks either a day or per show, to tune their guitars and set up their drums and other equipment. I was like ''Dude, they actually make enough profit to pay you that much per day?''. He had another job he did that was seasonal, so it wasn't his only job and he also had to pay self employment tax, as an independent contract. So he paid the other half of the social security/medicare tax that your employer would contribute. It wasn't a bad gig though. He also got $25-$30 bucks a day for food expenses on the road and they paid for his lodging and his plane ticket when they toured overseas. They were traveling in a little van, so they weren't living a big rock and roll lifestyle or anything. Still a pretty sweet gig though.

I figure if a band like that could pay the roadie $250 bucks a day, someone may demand a couple hundred a night to babysit Hogan's kids!

Not like Ottawa is a chump team either. They did win the East last year.
We've played two pretty good games against them this year. I thought this was a really solid game, outside of those final 2 minutes in regulation and the OT period, which wasn't a bad OT period. Just kind of flat. The PK was damn near flawless too.

I don't know why Moore is out there on PK's or to protect a lead ever. I understand Lovejoy because of the type of defenseman he is, and coaches like these guys and playing them on the PK and killing 6 on 5's. Lovejoy was also good at those things, up until a year ago.

Lovejoy isn't terrible on the PK, if he can actually get a clear, since it's not an icing when they're on the PK.

Lovejoy and Moore got out there at 2 mins left, with a two goal lead, its not like they were thrown out there protecting a one goal lead under a minute. Butcher is not playing in that situation and you can't just play Greene Severson and Santini for 2 minutes straight. People have to think logically when you want to bash the coach. You cannot burn out half of your defense. Would be nice if we had better defensemen but until then it is what it is. 6 16 and 28 can't play the whole game.

Once we found our legs we looked pretty relentless out there. All four lines were out working then and winning battles.

I don’t have many, if any negatives to say about our forwards tonight.

Meanwhile back on the ranch. Butcher’s 10th point puts him into a tie for 2nd in rookie scoring with Serge with less games played then both Keller and Serge.

Bratt moves into a tie with Nico who are both not far behind the top.
