I'm not a fan of Ric Flair either, but I think I became really soured on him after he ''Retired'' in that match with Shawn Michaels, then started wrestling again in TNA a year or two later. I didn't mind him as an on-screen character at that point, but I couldn't stand to see him competing anymore, especially after that pretty nice ending against Shawn Michaels. I remember when he was beat down by Chris Jericho, sometime between his ''Retirement'' and his departure to TNA. It was basically one of those impromptu matches, without it being a match. Usually when a guy is retired, they might take a sweet chin music or a stunner or a tombstone, and be done with it. He was actually going back and forth with Jericho, but mostly it was just Jericho going at him and even a vintage Ric Flair blading to bust himself open, right before WWE went TV-PG. He basically looked like he was dying to compete in another match again. I always appreciated that Shawn Michaels stay retired after he retired, not including the injury to his back, when he was still young and was injured for 4 or 5 years. And Shawn Michaels was still fun to watch when he retired and probably could have sporadically competed for quite a few more years.
I also am a big Bret Hart fan, and sided with him when he and Flair had their shoot feud back in the day. Although Bret Hart was an egotistical bastard sometimes, which I'll be the first admit. He was one of the few actual technical wrestlers that made it big, and not just a big oaf muscle head like Hogan.
I can rant about Hogan all day. He's a pretty terrible human being too. I hope he's still on the WWE blacklist.
