Takeaways -
Lindy's line changes screwed us in the first period. I really like Graves/Hamilton as a stable top pair, and I really like Severson/Smith as our 2nd pair. I really like Zacha/Nico/Bratt, and taking them apart really put a dent in Bratt's game that he didn't recover from until late.
I think Lindy needs to find something to get Kuokk and Shara going, and I like seeing Kuokk on a line with McLeod - it kindof echos the Zajac line of last year that actually got us thinking that these guys might be decent instead of AHL plugs.
Mercer will be good wherever he plays. I know people love Johnsson, and I love his effort, but in reality, he just falls down, can't handle a pass, misses assignments and is too small to actually hit the people he's trying to hit. Sorry. Tatar needs someone to help him get going, as he's had these flashes where he's great but he needs some help.
We don't have an identity right now, and Mercer is our best bet to give us that. Keep the top line together, and then figure out who Mercer works with - if you move Tatar up with Zacha/Nico, it might just be Bratt or Shara. Last year, we at least had McLeod/Wood/Bastian working when nothing else was - so I think we miss both of those big guys.
We just need some continuity and momentum... and to skate and complete a frigging pass.
Hopefully MacBlack will solve alot of ills.
