Helle wasn’t sharp, Wheeler was brutal, special teams killed us ..

Overall, not a very good game. Should be able to turn it around, and with fans back in attendance you gotta figure Maurice has a short leash. If we play like we did tonight more often than not over the first 20 games or so, we should strongly consider sending him packing.

Positives were Ehlers, Connor, Perfetti and Dubois for two periods. Morrissey/Pionk/Dillon looked good too.

Stanley was atrocious. Had like 3 turnovers at one point in a 20 second sequence. Need him to be better.

Lowry and PLD were completely uninvolved in PP1. Only Wheeler, Pionk, Connor touched the puck on that unit.

Really good game by Connor even ignoring the goal. The ducks broadcast was praising his backchecks.

Corsi will be misleading for this game, the Jets were no way near as dominant as their Corsi would make them look. Too many shots from the outside, not enough going to the dirty areas. While what Copp did running Gibson was not very smart, it was still the right idea to go to the scoring areas.

Morrissey/Schmidt pairing looked good.

PLD had 5 games without Scheifele and anyone who was saying that he would supplant Scheif as our 1 C by March of this year can safely put that notion to rest. I would be glad if he can hit 50 points, I am not confident he can even do that.

Gibson was crazy good in the first 20 mins and still very good in the last 40. Jets clearly got frustrated as a team not being able to beat him. Hats off to Gibson.

No biggie, game one only……there goes the dream of a undefeated season. Jets play like they did in the first 20 mins and they’re going to win a lot of games.

yes, he's teaching the rest of the team how to play a penalty kill.

Dillon/Pionk needed another couple of minutes off of Morrissey/Schmidt, but I don't think our top 4 was bad. Weak links were Copp, Wheeler aside from the assist, and the 4th line. Could've used a Hellebuyck save, but we also didnt even play that bad - got goalied.

I really don’t think Gibson was much of a world beater tonight … we made it easy on him. It’s only one game so no cause for concern yet but it’s a bit disingenuous to claim we got goalied this game, I think.

I liked the games of Ehlers, PLD and KC……….who would of thought missing your 1C would hurt the team. Glad Mark is back next game.
