Where were the Habs pre Monahan trade? Where have they been all year? A point per game team. Pro rated that's 82 points. They've been getting better each year from that disastrous 2021-22 season. I expect they'll reach between 82-90 points next year. That's not tank. And you're assuming that they'll keep all those pieces. My only assumption is Dach will come back and replace Monahan while the young players all develop and get better
That is where I expected to be this season with everyone healthy...
Betteman .500. We get there easy with all those OT points we pull out of our ass. :sarcasm:

The thing is we won't get there unless Dach stays healthy and we sorely need to turnover more of our roster.
I'm done with players like Evans who is supposed to be a defensive specialist despite our horrid PK and Ylonen who has checked out completely.
I'm no fan of Dvorak or Pezetta either then we have the three Amigos Anderson Armia and Gallagher. Hard to win when you can point at seven players
you'd ideally like to part with because they are under performing. Gallagher we are stuck with and I can live with Armia in his current state but still.
I somehow doubt there is a homerun to be had for next season but surely we can start with some singles and perhaps an extra base hit.
I don't get why we are treading water with these types. The young guns are getting restless because the role players suck and I don't blame them.

After 50+ years of being a die hard fan I am at a point where I no longer care. I never thought I would get here but watching this mediocre product night in and night out has finally taken its toll. I will check in on this site but I doubt I watch most games moving forward.
I hear ya Tyson, but hang in there. I really do believe going forward here things will change for the better starting this summer. I've decided that next season is for me when I want to see guys step it up and big moves made to content up to a certain point and even maybe make a playoff push

How much progress do you all see from last season to this season?
Slaf has shown good progress but who else?

  • Caufield is a better all around player
  • Suzuki is better defeinseively and using his shot more
  • Newhook is taking advantage of his chance to learn without the pressure of making mistakes
  • Guhle is getting better at eliminating top line players
  • Matheson will eclipse his point total and is top 10 in the league for d-men
  • Xhekaj is finding his defensive game beyond just being a hitter and a fighter
  • Roy and Struble have arrived as bonafide NHL'ers
  • Mailloux is doign great in the AHL
  • Monty and Primeau are both on track to improve

I too want to have a better the pick and I hope we finish below the Yotes, but I think the players think it's a shame to lose to them.

Pride will have the Habs win tonight.

I expect Slaf to be back on the scoresheet after 3 games without a point.

Hopefully we win in OT/SO if it's indeed a win

All I'm asking for tonight:

1) Sharp teeth on the chainsaw
2) plastic bags that dont bloody leak this time
3) a soft patch of diggable soil in the forest
4) an iron-clad alibi
5) Habs lose in regulation

Wow...this little soft spoken kid, with a sheepish look and certain uncertainty about himself, would have been eaten alive in Montreal.

Also, he only gets a 3/10 on the jawline.

Some of the players progressed in one category and regressed in others.

- Slaf progress all around
- Suzuki is more constant on both side of the ice
- Caufield got better away from the puck, but seems to have lost something in term of shooting positioning (or not as constant as before) and his skating seems to have regressed a bit, but I think he's dragging some minor lower body injure since early in the season or something, he was flying in the first few games. And now probably dragging a higher body injury...
- Guhle improved defensively to the point he can baby sit Matheson whole playing RD, but his offensive game took a dive
- Xhekaj started off, but seems to have corrected himself post All-Star, so a wash I guess.
- Harris got an injury riddled season, but he didn't seems to improve much either (still haven't learned to place himself while away from the puck to avoid being hit)
- Newhook really ran with his opportunities, but he should be kept on the wing once the team has actual centers again.
- Roy is showing nice thing, but needs to work on his explosiveness this off-season
- Struble is now eating more than he can chew, but he also ran with the opportunity he was given
- Barron doesn't appear to have changed that much from last year
- Primeau progressed a bit, but he needs to play more games.
