Jets have their top 2 C (Scheifele and Little) locked up for the next several years for $11.4M per year. That is outstanding.

Even if Little is pushed down to #3 C in the next few years, $5.29M will be a good deal for a top-end #3 C with a rising cap.

Might be a little worried near the end of the contract, especially with Laine making probably 9M and Ehlers making at least 7. However, excellent contract for how he is now and if he doesn't regress, they should be able to move him if needed.

Good signing.

Congrats Peg fans. I find this deal interesting. 20g/40pt guy who misses significant time in recent years and will be 30 in Nov. The price of business in today's NHL I guess. If you guys are happy with it, I say again....congrats on locking him up. Should retire a Jet.

A lot of money for a guy that's injured quite often lately.

marleau had 46 points in 82 games and got 6.25
little with his injuries got 47 points in 52 games and will get 1 million less. I would rather have the player who gets injured and still scores more and is 8 years younger.

Little was my favourite player back in his ohl Barrie Colts days. Happy to see him carve out a solid career and get a nice extension. Well done Jets nice Barrie Colt one two punch down the middle.

Having an elite 1c and a very solid 2c that can step up in case of injuries signed for a little over a million more than what Toews makes long term is not fair. The Jets should be very dangerous for many years.

You're also comparing a player that got 6 years to a player that got 3 years.

But I agree with you, Little is a better player than Marleau is now.

Still a bit concerning considering he's missed about 30% of his games the last two seasons. Hopefully that's behind him.

Great deal. Anyone saying otherwise has no idea about Little's worth to the Jets.

Little said earlier this summer..... That he would like to extend and retire a Winnipeg Jet. After going through the tough beginning years of the franchise...... He did not want to leave just as they are about to be real contenders.

I hear what you are saying but they were freak accidents. he has been pretty healthy till the last few years. the only time injuries matter is if they keep happening to same place. like concussions year after year or separated shoulder year after year or a bad back that never heals and players miss time every year because of the same injuries keep happening. that is not the case here.

Little is one of those players who you don't really pay attention to unless he's on your team. He does everything well (but not elite), and he does nothing bad.

This was an important signing for the Jets. If Scheifele ever goes down to a significant injury, Little can capably fill those shoes. If Scheifele's healthy, he's an excellent #2 C playing with guys like Wheeler, Laine, or Ehlers.

Term is a touch too long maybe (by one - two years I'd say) but otherwise, excellent signing.

At first I cringed a little at the 6-year term, but really, $5.3M isn't much in today's NHL and will be even less 6 years from now. Even if he falls off on a normal mid-30s curve, he should still be a good enough player to not completely anchor their cap situation at that number.

Well damn, I guess he was serious when he said he wanted to stay here. Someone would have overpaid for him if he hit FA. Would have preferred 5 years, but it's not 7 or 8 so i'm happy.

Super consistent, could have been a 60-65pt guy the last two years if healthy. Same organization his entire career, guys been sneaky good for 11 years. I hope he can stay bealthy and sneak into the top 40 in scoring this year

Wow, didn't expect to see this at this time. Im so happy.

I was kind of scared he might end up going somewhere else next summer if we failed to miss the playoffs again, resulting in a significant step back for 18-19 and more non-playoff action for us. There is no doubt in my mind if he stays healthy next season someone would've given him 6.5M in FA, something we probably couldn't afford with all the key young guys getting new contracts in the upcoming years.

He's a very important piece to the puzzle and gives us that solid #2 guy behind Scheifele.

Say what you want about Chevy, he gets an A from me this off-season.

In what world is Little a 20 goal 40 point guy ?

He's averaged 51.25 points per season the last 4 years while only playing an average of 67 games per season.

Clearly a compromise between cap hit & term. Great cap hit, about a million less then he could of gotten on the market per year. Six year term a hair long imo, sooner seen a 4-5 term. Good signing, high end two way 2C signed long term.
