Agreed. Generally the Jets' board thinks the number is ok for first few years, but somewhat too high for remainder. But most think that to not sign him would be a worse plan and that he would have gotten the same (or longer term) from another team.

I would be worried about the Tavares contract as being far worse then marleau. over the next 4 years wheeler will get paid 15 million less then Tavares and out score him every year like he did the last 4 years. the last 2 years will be closer but still 6 million cheaper.

He got 91 points this year at 31 and is 4th in points last 3 years and jt is 16th. And if scheifele wasn't injured wheeler would have hit 100. I look forward to jt scoring 100 at 31.
