I can't imagine that the Devils would be allowed to have not carried his cap all these years and then pick him up for the playoffs. I think when he "retired" from the NHL that his contract was consided terminated.

If he's looking for a multi-year contract then no. It would have to be a 1 year deal in the $1-2M ranger to work for the Preds if he was just taking a shot at the cup.

Saying 2-3 years would seem like he wants to make some money. I assume he'd also prefer the East for travel.
