Good game by Germany. They did what they had to do. It wasn't exciting, but it was effective. Also, a special congrats to the German goalie coaches. Both have been solid, if not stellar. Good luck against Sweden!

The problem is that he's being utilized as a PP specialist and he feels like he has to be spectacular in the only opportunities that he gets. It'd be a lot better for him and the team if he played regular and consistent shifts.

Gagner is better 5-on-5 than most of the forwards on Team Canada.

I wish we had a list of the ES ice time. Gagner had...what...2 shifts of ES ice?

Man, great game all around by the German team. They fought hard all game long. I have a feeling they are going to be a top tier hockey country in the next few years.

Wow. I can't believe all the childish insults I'm seeing here.

Can't wait till you kids have to go back to gradeschool next week and lay off HFboards.

i love how some are on a mission to bring down Canada...

3-1 against a defensive german team isnt bad at all... Plus, it's germany first defeat in the tourney

That only proves that he's being misused.

Nooo, it proves that the coaches don't trust him. But what would they know. Surely they'd appreciate some crucial input from Knights fans.

I agree. People may not like the trapping system, but it's all Germany has until they can level out the talent base a little more. They look to be well on their way though, especially in net. I also hope that this tournament convinces someone to take a chance on German overagers like Stefaniszin & Gawlik.

I also love all the hilariously overconfident predictions early in this thread. The stuff like 7-1, or 9-1. This was exactly the type of game I expected. Germany plays a frustrating brand of piss-you-off hockey, and when mens-level teams sometimes succumb to frustration, you have to figure that the kids are going to let their emotions get the best of them and lead to some careless play and dumb mistakes.

Well Canada did what they had to do to win even though at times it wasn't pretty. Its hard to play an offensive, speed game when you play a trap team like the Germans.

Credit to the Germans as well, they are really putting up a fight at this years tournament and are no longer push overs. If they could put up this kind of effort every year they may become the "8th hockey nation" in the world.

Now that Canada has clinched the bye its time to sharpen up on some of their mistakes against Slovakia and prepare to go for the gold.

i love how some are on a mission to bring down Canada... Still bitter about the bad games by USA, Kaktus?
Actually I loved how Canada played over hyped USA team.

Also I love how people close their ice and lie with straight faces. "We do not have holes" Of course it was a win. Canada was suppose to win. As an outsider who watched this game and was not rooting for team Canada I thought Germans did a hell of a job.

I do not know how do you see that "I am bringing Canada down". When I said it was a win and Canada did not look too good in this game.

My team is team Russia :D

I have to say i am really impressed by the german team. They showed character...

Like i said earlier.. if hockey was a big sport in Germany, they would dominate this game.

If the 1.3 billion people in China took to hockey, they would dominate this game too. What´s your point?

I think it's been the best ever, well besides adding Domi.

I disagree. I've never seen a tournament with so many missed faceoffs due to ads over-running. It's not imperative, but it is poor production. The camera work has been decent, considering the tournament is in Europe, which makes it doubly hard (expensive) for TSN. On the whole, I'd give them a B. That said, with this year's advent of TSN's live stream on broadband, I have to give them a hearty handclap - they've helped out a lot of people with that.
