BEAUTIFUL. That was clinical. David Reinbacher, arguably our best offensive defenseman and you see there why. Also, draft eleigible for you all who care. What a pass from Wallner, great kid, and Bohm is a solid power forward from a country that almost never produces them.

In most years, no, the depth difference is not massive at all. The comparison is completely logical between Dano and Kasper, Slovakias 2013 team and this years Austria team. Slovakias 2013 team was a one man show, the rest of the performances were brutal. And only one player from that team carved an nhl career (short lived too in Dano). It was just shocking to watch. Is it wrong to expect that from a guy like Kasper who some see as top 15 pick? Also, Slovakia has not produced a first rounder in 8 years while Austria just had Rossi drafted last year. So they have us beat there.
The line of Peeters - Kasper - Rohrer should be controlling play much more even against top teams like that Dano line did, led by Dano an infamous bust of a pick.
Perhaps I am asking too much, but there is significant precedent.
There's lots of precedence both ways, look at Mackinnon's tourney in 2013.

Not much has been said about the fact the Austrians have 7 of their 8 dressed D, shooting right. Highly unusual.

Fun to watch Team Canada feed Bedard at the end of the game for end to end rushes. Kid is exciting and has some sweet moves.

I'm glad that Reinbacher, Auer, and Rohrer have been having good tournaments. Kasper will get drafted anyways but these guys are also eligible and they're good.
It’s awesome to see the quality young guys Austria has. My dream is that hockey can grow throughout Central Europe and eventually make top-level international competition more competitive; not replacing soccer/football but carving out its own, more substantial niche.

Gretzky was almost 17 years old at the time ( January 26th).
Bedard is 6 months younger.
