Seems like an Isak replacement then, although I'm not sure why they don't want to give Isak a chance. Is Romero even an upgrade on Isak?

Probably more just their strategy of stacking up on young talent so they increase their chances that one of those players pans out and can be re-sold for a big profit. Sort of like how they bought Dembele and Mor in the same summer on top of Schürrle. But yeah, seems like another Merino situation brewing.

Lozano's release clause is 30m, though. Feels like just an empty rumor. He's good, but if they gonna get him to replace Sanchez... oh, boy.
That would be the most Arsenalian thing to happen in the world....be linked with Lemar for the whole summer just to bid for him in the final hours on the final day just to have him go to a rival club in Liverpool in the next window just to buy a good yet not great player. Yikes me.

Well, if he goes to Arsenal instead of Liverpool, I am reasonably sure that they won’t even have a back up plan; so it could always be worse.

They already got their 'back-up' plan in Ox. Turns out he's a rockstar.

Romero's "transfer" looking like another Alario.

While reports are claiming he's going to Dortmund. Velez are saying that no bid has come from Dortmund and he's heading to PSV.

Almost as if every club tampers hmm?
More or less.

As I said the only thing that I thought was clear, undeniable tampering was Arsenal’s bid for Suarez, and of course nothing came of it.

Any team that doesn’t want to sell can just call tampering, but I don’t think anyone is doing anything particularly different than they had been in seasons prior.

Probably, but it certainly seems like Barcelona has been caught out going to extremes multiple times. This is what I read:

"According to BBC Sport, Atletico claim Barcelona “[have] spoken to people around Griezmann, including family members,” which breaches FIFA regulations."

Should be interesting to see how that saga plays out. Personally not as high on Griezmann as some are but he's another really good player that could end up in the PL because of something like this (United a long time rumoured suitor).

Also read that Liverpool were scouting Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. I'd be on board with having him as a replacement for Can. A midfield group of Henderson, Wijnaldum, Keita, Chambo, SMS, Lallana and Milner among other youth like Grujic, Woodburn, Ejaria, etc. is nice to imagine.

@Curtinho while SMS is talented I’m not sure he is the player that Liverpool is looking for/needs. They really need someone who operates deeper. From what I understand, SMS plays pretty high up; I feel like him and Keita would occupy a lot for the same areas, and leave the D even more on an island

More recently Wijnaldum has been playing deeper and deeper. I suspect that he along with Henderson are being envisioned as our 6s moving forward. Likely something like this:

Wijnaldum/Henderson
Oxlade/SMS? - Keita/Lallana
Currently going into next season. At least, that's my guess. It's hard to say because Hendo/Can and Gini have essentially been used as a double pivot for a bit now and with Keita coming into the fray I don't see how that'll continue to work unless he's just replacing Coutinho's spot.

They can't talk to his agent, his family or even him without it being tapping up. Still this stuff happens all the time.

Wow

according to L'Equipe, PSG has agreed to sell Gonçalo Guedes to Valencia for € 38M. Seems like a very bad deal for PSG, didn't they pay 30M for him? now that he's killing it in La Liga they will only make an 8M profit? I know it would be hard to find a spot for him in Paris, but he's just 21y old... a lot of PL teams were interested in him.

I thought it was like the Spanish media were saying it was done. But the French were saying it wasn’t. It very well could have been the other way around.

Kicker says BVB is seriously considering bringing back Mkhitaryan. :)

Frenkie de Jong signed a new contract with Ajax until 2022. Gonna raise his transfer price. I bet Pep would love him.

Frenkie de Jong is incredible. Hope he stays at Ajax though for a bit.

He can play in so many roles, but I could see him ending up like a Dutch KdB with his skillset, attitude and intelligence.

Hmm. I can see it a bit with his long-ranging dribbles and passes. I wonder if he'll have to become more of a specialist in one position if he moves to a bigger league. Very fun player.

He's been basically useless at United, so if he can go back and do well, hope it works out for him.

Thanks, Mou.

Some reports that Liverpool are entering the race for Manuel Akanji from Basel.

Dortmund want him now, but Liverpool are willing to wait until the summer, (or possibly buy then loan back), which may give them an edge as well.

This is the first, and only, centerback that have been linked to them besides Van Dijk.

Saw the Akanji thing too. Should be interesting to see if it goes through. If we get van Dijk in the winter and Akanji in the summer all of a sudden our CB depth looks pretty nice with van Dijk, Matip, Gomez, Lovren, Akanji and Klavan.

Indeed. I imagine that he'll eventually end up as an 8 in a 3 man midfield or an AM otherwise. He can play the holding role well (and has even been used at CB) but ultimately I think to get the most out of him as a player he's got to play in midfield. He's very dynamic. He still needs to physically develop some but a very exciting player indeed.

Klopp's scouting strategy is literally just copy whomever Dortmund is looking at.

Plus I think Liverpool being proactive is their best chance at getting him.

Getting mixed signals here. ;)
