Winnipeg is on the list to host. One part that benefits Winnipeg is their centralized hotels can be entirely reserved for NHL.

This initial report is not true.

I'm going to stop chanting True North because of how they refused to pay their employees.

Should have stopped years ago. Tnse not good owners

Their refusal to honor past from day 1 and staying away from the original logos and jerseys was the first sign.

However the value has gone up and they can lose money for years and still profit if they sell.

Lots of owners are scumbags in the NHL, not all of them, but most notably Eugene Melnyk. Mark Chipman is worth $500 Million, although I am aware it doesn't mean they have $500 Million dollars in their bank account, if he cashes out all his assets that's how much he's pretty much worth. Same case-scenario for Jeff Bezos, considering before COVID-19 he sold billions of dollars worth of shares then spent a whole bunch of money on himself most notable the most expensive house in Los Angeles.

But I was infuriated when I was informed my seasons' tickets would be used as JetsGear credit... I would cancel my season tickets, but I work downtown. Work pays me for my tickets whenever we have someone making a business trip and want to give them an amazing experience of Winnipeg. It's also quite nice going to a game after work and not having to deal with rush hour.

Although, I was considering downgrading to a mini-pack for myself because I tend to enjoy going to the lake more.

Millions of people have lost their jobs because of the virus, what else are you boycotting?

Honestly many places I have prior. Walmart is a big one. I support small businesses as much as I can, much rather put food on somebodies table than in their savings account for their second yacht. Sadly at times we don't have a choice.

According to the internet that's Chipman's net worth anyway.

Don't know if it's true yet, but it's just a rumour about the Winnipeg Jets reward points. But I expect it's what will happen. Found it on here and another season ticket holder I know was telling me about it.

Sheesh far too much in the way of bashing of our owners going on here. Chipmans not perfect but he's one of the better ones in the NHL.

Hes also not all that wealthy compared to most in the league as well. I'd wager most of his wealth is tied to the value of the MTS center and the Jets franchise value. TNSE is still very much in the early stages of diversifying their business portfolio.

Once True North Square is fully open they will have some ancillary real estate driven revenue to offset down years. Until that happens they are reliant on their entertainment segments to drive most of their revenue. Given COVID none of those segments are deriving any revenue nor will they any time soon. Hard to fault the company for tightening the purse strings right now while the business is really struggling.

They are operating no differently then any other business that isn't able to generate revenue during the pandemic. Non of those places are able to pay their staffs without government assistance programs either.

Franchise value of the Jets is over 300 million. No idea what the partnership split is but for simplicity let's say its 50:50.

Right there is $150 million plus in assets.

MTS center is probably worth a couple 100 million so another $100 million or so.

He will have a steak in the Chipmans family business ventures. No idea what that would be worth.

Add to that TNSE other assets and whatever other investments and cash he has and $500 million in wealth doesnt seem like a bad guess. But as mentioned most of that would be tied up in assets that aren't very liquid.

He likely only has finite cash on hand though, certainly not enough to fund the business for a long time without assistance.

I know I won't be watching. Our summers are short enough as it is and I give into my desire to watch hockey each year into June... but to start watching in July..after being locked up in the house for months.. not happening.

Why don’t you watch on your phone or tablet outside? I watch most games on my 13" iPad Pro even though I have a 77" OLED TV.

OK, your generation is officially f***ing insane. I don't know what generation that is, but I know it's not mine. My generation has big ass TV's for watching sports and movies, real computers with a keyboard and mouse for internet shit and games and web surfing, and phones for talking and occasionally using the geolocation cause our addled brains have gotten us lost. That's it. Period. End of discussion.

True North aka chipman has bills and loans to pay. Not sure the agreement he has with Thompson and im dure thompson can give some slack to chipman but chipman is not in a good place financially right now.

This could hurt chipmsn short-term more than any other owner

Its not 50/50 split. Chipper used all his money to buy off investors during true north project.

Bell mts has no value its literally worth nothing and are still paying mortgage. The land has value which chipman doesn't own.

Running a dealership is the wost buz to be in now

Vancouvers big dealer who is wanting to buy Canucks and Lions apparently is in big trouble and on record last week thst if it continues there will be no more dealers in 5 yrs. How? Why? Dont know but he said the car companies might go in different direction like it almost did a decade ago before the bail out.

Does your house not have value if your still paying a mortgage? Of course not, your equity is the cost of the house less amount owing on your loan.

Same thing with the MTS center which is now 16 years old and likely 4 to 9 years from paying off their mortgage.

As a venue Its one of the most attended entertainment venues in North America. It has also had 10's of millions in upgrades over the last 7 to 8 years so its value on the balance sheet is likely now worth much more then it's original 133 million construction costs. These renovations have been funded through casino revenue, not additional debt.

The arena has zero value. NONE. doesnt matter how busy it is.

If jets were to be sold the arena has zero part of value.

Not sure about the other STH you know, but I read the "rumour" about it on here as the joke it obviously was.

Good News ... NBA will begin permitting some of its teams to resume practicing in their facilities next week, though only in the states where governors have begun to ease their coronavirus lockdown orders, according to sources with knowledge of the policy.
The league's decision will go into effect on Friday.

No business is perfect but considering Chipman was the only guy trying for years to get NHL hockey back to Winnipeg i'm very satisfied with True North. Do you know the all the things that had to fall into place perfectly to get NHL hockey back in Winnipeg ? I got to talk to Chipman when all we had was the Moose and that was a very determined man , everyone was constantly telling him no way it would ever happen. This is why i will always yell True North , not because i'm trying to promote the company but because i'm thanking them for bringing the NHL back. Those years without NHL hockey were horrible.
