How many PP, how many ES?
It didn't ever seem relevant with other prospects, but I think Lemieux updates should include this.
Both goals at ES.
Assist on the EN.
Petan now with 4 assists. Why do I sometimes think that he's toying with the WHL.
maybe because he does so many ridiculous things every time he steps on the ice

So...
Can small Petan really be a NHL center? I always thought of him as the scoring winger who keeps the 2nd line alive, as his ceiling. Thoughts?

It's just that he has two red flags:
goal : assist ratio
pp g : es g ratio
Just one of these is interesting, but having both leads to some concerns that he may be having a bit of a "lucky" sh% year.
Example: Josh Morrissey had a huge amount of PP G last year. This year he doesn't. His ES G is not far off from last season.
What is his sh% this year? Doesn't the OHL keep those stats?

So PP-ES is not that interesting?
Not trying to challenge your opinion. I follow the Oilers a bit, and I know that RNH was always known to be a great PP scorer. ES not too much.
It's has to do with relative odds.
Odds are a guy with slanted point distribution is more lucky than one whose isn't.
Lemieux having both that and the G/A ratio increases the odds again.
There is the chance though that it is a skill, like RNH, or Ovi. Just more often than not it isn't.
In his first two OHL seasons combined, Lemieux was 33g 34a, including 27g 26a in his draft season. This season seems to be a bit extreme.
aye, hence the concern...
Who knows though... maybe he is a PP goal scoring specialist but hasn't gotten PP time until this season?
You never know.
Lemieux had 40 goals (regular and playoffs) prior to this season, with only 14 on the PP.
Clearly, he has some scoring ability.

If DD, Johnson, Roy, etc. can all play C in the NHL there is no reason he can't. As long as his game translates well he can play any forward position with his smarts and be successful at it.
Agree but beyond that he would need to take a job away from another C. There is some doubt about whether they would keep him in Wpg. to play 3 min/gm on the 4th line. Or, if they keep him do they improve the 4th line and give them more time? There is also the possibility that Copp takes the 4C job. He may play wing simply because that is where the need is.
The idea is to improve your depth so your 4th line can grab at least 8 minutes of ice time per game. It would leave your main scoring lines fresher and better able to play during the game. We saw the effects of rolling 3 lines last night. Yech.
