Well, Hartman is probably as good as a "generic" late 1st round pick pans out to be... better than a bust, but nothing remotely like a steal. Lo and behold he was picked #30 too. He can be a decent part of the future lineup as long as he can add just a smidgen more discipline.

I don't see why they had to throw in anything else to get him, though. Edjsell is a decent prospect. Maybe he pans out and maybe he doesn't, but that's basically where things go off the rails on this deal for me. So far.

They definitely aren't forcing things after the trade, though. A lot of teams, they go out and make a big deadline deal, and that guy is going to play and get a fairly prominent role no matter what he does. A lot of GMs need their egos protected. I like that it never comes to that with Poile.
