According to Kyle Woodlief:

"Two reasons: he can't score. Just doesn't finish off his chances around the net. And secondly, he showed up at the Combine in Toronto with a cast on his wrist because he put his hand through a window in a fit of anger. Several different team psychiatrists who interviewed him came away wondering about his impulse control. Plus, he was only about a centimetre away from ending his career if the wrong tendons and ligaments had been cut."

Like young people dont make stupid decisions. Pronger still does but is considered a top D and Wolski fought in a club and look where he is now.

Maybe its a tactic so the Avs can take him with their 2nd round pick? :sarcasm:

I bet this happened because Cherepanov was near and it was clearly his influence on Sweatt :teach:

Jovonoski's sex-capade, Pronger's arrest for underaged drinking both come to mind as moments of youthful stupidity. Apparently these guys aren't allowed to be young. Ever.

Best RLR related post ever. Redline really is a joke this year - he's made some rather inflamatory comments about players without backing them up.

It seems to be a pattern for Red Line to do that. Every year they really pimp a couple players while absolutely thrashing some guys who are projected to go in the first round. But, people don't buy Red Line to get the same rankings and stories THN's guide would give, they get it to get a different perspective on the prospects, so, in this case, Woodlief may have sold himself a few more copies with statements like that, true or not.

So if Akim Aliu is allowed to drop because he has anger management issues, how come Billy Sweatt is not?

Who said he was allowed? If it wasen't for these issues he would be ranked higher. People should stop arguing about team psychiatrist and realize it's part of the game, people coming at the combine well spoken and mature will get a better look at the draft.

And the main reason he's ranked a #61 is :
he can't score. Just doesn't finish off his chances around the net

People in this thread are saying Redline is a "joke" because they dropped Sweatt in their rankings because of his anger. Redline points out it is only ONE of their reasons, but the other posters in this thread are only focussed on that reason. "Boys will be boys" seems to be their mentality towards Sweatt, implying that Redline is being silly for dropping him merely because he likes to punch out windows when things don't go his way. But nobody on Hockeys Future seems to have any problems with Aliu dropping in the rankings because of his attitude problems. Why is that? Why is it okay for Aliu to drop because of attitude, but if Redline drops Sweatt (in part) because of attitude they are a "joke?"

He can't score! Exactly. Why would you waste a 1st round pick on a guy that can't finish? I always thought after the WJC that this guy was being ranked way too high. We've all seen these speedsters who can't score even if their life (career) depended on it. Think Doug Smail.

Because all the way down to 61 is insane, thats out of the second round!!!!! There isnt 60 players better than Sweatt, let alone 30. He is a first round talent.

You obviously dont realize that isnt all about scoring at the next level. Bill Sweatt has so many other intangibles that make him a very valuable player, the biggest one being his speed. You can't make a play on the puck if you don't get there first, and you can't hit what you can't catch. Saying that he isn't a first rounder cuz he can't finish is ridiculous.

He might not be a huge scorer, but nearly point per game in the WCHA is pretty impressive as a freshman. Translate that to the OHL and I would imagine that he could score around 100 points there. Not a first line talent, but the fastest skater in the draft is simply not just a speedster. Even if his offensive talents dont pan out to that of a second liner, he still has the speed to be a very good checking line player.

Maybe because other ranking services didn't drop him ? I agree with you and nags. People should realize players need the skills and the attitude to go high in the draft, maybe the drop is too high but let's not go crazy about it.

I guess averaging about a point per game after returning from the WJC just doesn't cut it as a potential first or second round selection, right?

If it is true that this player indeed did this, he will likely drop because teams don't want to invest alot of money and/or wasting a draft pick on someone unreliable like that. As was stated essential bodily parts could have been damaged ending his career and resulting in a loss of money or draft pick. Most people have enough sense not to punch into glass regardless of age.

Probably because Sweatt doesn't get along with windows and Aliu doesn't get along with people.

And when they come out of junior with a mature personality, well-considered words, and a spotless record, they're called bland and colourless.

Fact is, people just like to *****.
