Josi is a top pairing defenseman putting up 27 minutes a night (Streit plays 20:38) that plays top line even strength minutes to the tune of 20:45 a night (Streit plays 17:35 at even), Josi is on the top powerplay unit playing 3:05 a night on the powerplay (Streit does lead his team here at 2:41 a game) and Josi plays on the top pk unit playing around 2:33 a night on the pk (Streit is dead last on pk time on his team, playing 0:21 per game on the pk).

All in all you're comparing a top pairing defenseman to an offensive/powerplay specialist.

I am aware Josi's trade value is off the charts compared to Streit. I'm saying their on-ice performance is still pretty close.

Pick any professional scout or GM, and 100% would disagree with you in all phases of hockey.

I don't think anyone will say Streit is a terrible d-man, because he isn't. He is an agong 3-4 defenceman that excels on the PP.

Josi is entering his prime and does everything Streit does, better. and then some

E.Kane is going to finally play with some decent linemates, if he has 25g by the trade deadline and we are out of the playoff race and he is still not excited about playing in WPG would you consider a trade.
We would be looking for something like Fiala + a 2015 1st non lottery.

Id consider it, but since we got Neal a LWer isn't our top need. Its not that Kane isn't great, its just that we need a center.

No chance we would give that much up for a rental. Look at all the guys we have on one year deals. This coming season is a band aid season for us... ownership wants the playoffs but our own youngsters arewnt ready. We won't be realistically "playing for a cup" even if we do squeak into the playoffs. No reason to trade the future.

I stand corrected on the rental.. but…. 4 years at 6 million is hardly "cheap"… for a guy who has basically had one season that warrants that kind of money

Being honest, love Fiala as I do...Kane is a special player. There's not many players I'd trade that package to get, but Kane is one of them. I'd want due diligence done to be sure that any "Issues" are behind him..similar to what was done with Neal and Ribeiro...but if his attitude was right, i'd pull the trigger on that deal.

It's a hell of a lot better than the Josi + Fiala + 1st proposal I saw a day or two ago over on the main boards. Justification: "E. Kane is easily a 30+ goal scorer."

No... not yet, he isn't. And a package of Josi++ like that better bring back something more like an easy 80+ point scorer or it's a stupid move.
