Which Goalie do we keep

Thing is, I think we still need a decent 1A/1B tandem regardless of who is kept, as neither of them are 100% capable of carrying the load.

I agree, if Ortio is up next year then that clears the way for Gillies to plays lots in Stockton then If I'm Treliving, I let this thing play out and make a decision once the season is over, that way you are most informed to make the best decision. Maybe that decision is resigning Ramo to a 2 year deal?

I think that this question has gotten a bit more difficult. Karri has been spectacular lately. If he keeps this up, I don't see how we don't re sign him.

But he hasn't really shown much consistency this season, so we'll have to see if this keeps up.

If Ramo could play like the last 4 games consistently, this would be a different conversation, but he can't maintain the consistently, same as last year

He's never really been give a chance. It seems like whenever he plays a string of games he really starts to play well.

As of today Ramo has slightly better numbers. Both can be hot at times and cold as well, but I'd like Ramo as he works incredibly hard at practice from what the Flames brass have said and I think you'd get more for Hiller right now.

Ramo 2.43 GAA .915 SVPct
Hiller 2.46 GAA .913 SVPct

This year, yes. Next year, it could be Hiller/Ortio or Ramo/Ortio. Or even Hiller/Ramo again with a disgruntled Ortio still in the AHL!

I don't know which goalie should be kept (between Ramo/Hiller). Hiller was the clear pick for me a month ago, but I have not been impressed with his play as of late. Both Hiller/Ramo have their inconsistencies.

This question is easy for me. If you can get anything for Hiller you trade him and sign Ramo. If not then you go with Hiller. I think that either one will lose their Job to Ortio next year anyway.

Rather than focusing on Ramo/Hiller....

Should we be making a move for Devan Dubnyk this offseason in the UFA market? Calgary is his hometown and we have cap space. Jonas Hiller also comes off the books the year afterwards so we'll recoup a big chunk of the cap hit that way.

If so, what would we be offering him? I'm thinking 5x5.7

No chance he leaves Minny. He has bounced around enough, I am willing to bet an arm that the Wild sign him up as soon as the season is over.

This totally, he's found a terrific fit, he knows how easily and how fast things can turn, I mean he was in the minors a year ago? I think security is a huge thing to Duby right now.

A contract like that is a massive risk. And I would much rather have Ramo.

I doubt he gets that...

I'd offer him 2yrs x 5million.

I don't see Dubnyk as a good fit in Calgary. His success in Minnesota and Arizona is as much to do with systems as it is his improvement. He would not be half as successful here in our system with the way we hang our goaltenders out to dry far too often. He were revert backwards, not as far back as Edmonton bad but I don't think he would be an upgrade on Hiller or Ramo

Dubnyk would take that and run. Heck he would probably be happy just to a slight raise in salary. The guy was closeto never getting back into the NHL again.

Don't want Dubnyk. Might be a 1 year wonder.

In regards to Ramo vs Hiller. I'd resign Ramo and trade Hiller at the draft. For either a young D-man/ RW'er or 2nd + B/C prospect.

That's horrific. He had good stats prior to being subjected to Eakins' cancer but he's played literally just 34 games with the Wild this season at a very high level.

He'll get a one or two year deal from the Wild for 3-4M per. Anything more would be a terrible risk from the team's perspective.

He was also excellent with Coyotes - .916 / 2.72GAA / 9-5-2 - a 100+ point winning pace for a team that's current 2nd worst in the league.

He won't be posting a .939 with us but at least he won't be posting a .939 for one of our biggest conference rivals.

Edmonton tried to break him, he bent, but now he's the 2nd best goaltender in the NHL.

I was going to say this. It's not just his work with Minnesota that's been impressive. There was a reason they traded for him and made him the starter immediately. He was damn good in Arizona too.

He did off-season work both with Burke and with a specialist to change his style and the way he moves his head, and it appears that his game now is significantly better than it was before.
