grabovski is our best C, he can take a beating in a corner and walk out with the puck like no other.

jvr bozak kessel
kule grabo mac
lupul kadri frattin
kamarov mcclement orr

let mclaren rest his face..
lets not put lupul in first line duty until hes warmed up..

JVR - Kadri - Kessel
Lupul - Garbo - Frattin
Mac - Bozak - Kuli
Mclaren - MacC - Komarov

Phaneuf - Gunner
Franson - Gardiner
Fraser - Kostka

Riemer
Scrivens

Kadri leading scorer - Kessel and JVR have good chemistry
Garbo and Frattin have chemistry from last year and putting Lupul with them to stand in front of the net ..
Bozak - faceoffs and checking ling with kuli and Mac to score .
after seening Mclaren fight Orr is pointless can't even skate if you watch the games closely he falls ever other step .. that fourth line is one you can always count on with MacC and komarov

I don't think Carlyle wants to put Kadri and Kessel on the same line, for a couple of reasons: to continue to ease Kadri in and play what seems to be 12-14 minutes a game, and to spread out the scoring. It seems unnecessary to break up the Kadri/Frattin chemistry as well. Also, it's become abundantly clear that Orr is a fixture in the lineup, so unless he is injured, it's pointless to suggest that he will be on the bench.

This seems, to me, to be the most effective setup when Lupul comes back.. and barring any injuries, I think this is what we'll see.

What will likely happen:

Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
Van Riemsdyk - Grabovski - Kulemin
MacArthur - Kadri - Frattin
Komarov - McClement - Orr
McClaren

What I would like to happen:

Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
MacArthur- Kadri - Frattin
Van Riemsdyk - Grabovski - xxx
Komarov - McClement - Kulemin
Orr/McClaren

Let "xxx" represent packaging one of our defenseman and whatever else for at third line winger that has sandpaper and can score (ie. Ryan Jones).

And for ***** because it will definitely not happen ever:

Lupul - Grabovski - Kessel
Van Riemsdyk - Kadri - Frattin
MacArthur - Bozak - Kulemin
Komarov - McClement - McClaren

xxx = Ryane Clowe. I'm on board with your lineup. Spot on with what I would want up front.

Curious to see what Carlyle will do with his lines when Lupul returns.
I'd like to see something like this

Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
Komarov - Grabovski - Kulemin (2a/checking line)
vanRiemsdyk - Kadri - Frattin (2b scoring)
McClaren - McClement - Orr

Bye bye MacArthur?

JVR has to stay with Kessel until Lupul ramps up again, and since Grabo's line has zero offense Lupul has to start on that line.

vanRiemsdyk - Bozak - Kessel
Lupul - Grabovski - Kulemin
MacArthur - Kadri - Frattin
McClaren - McClement - Orr/Komarov

QUIZ TIME: What factors lead to the Grabovski line having less offense (NOT ZERO!) than the others?

3...2...1... GO!

Did anyone know that Kessel and Kulemin are tied for even strength points? Both have 13, tied for 3rd. on the team.

Kulemin doing it in 14:09 a game and Kessel in 16:27 a game.

Difference is Kessel is getting 3:33 PP TOI/g, and Kulemin is getting 0:41 PP TOI/g.

Kessel has 10 PP points, Kulemin none.

Joffrey Lupul taking one-timers prior to #leafs practice. He's looking real close.

I would speculate that he's about a week away.

put him with grabo and kul.

get 3 lines scoring

and you dont mess up the other 2

This is more complex then it looks- Carlye loves 2 scoring lines and a shutdown line. Right now the Grabo/Kulemin/Mcclement line is doing wonders, the question I have is Lupul strong enough defensively to be better then a guy like Mcclement and Kulemin and the answer is I really don't think so. This leave either the first or third line for Lupul, because he is a pure offensive guy and not all that good in his own end, its' a tricky situation regardless.

JVR - Bozak - Kessel
MacArthur - Kadri - Frattin
Lupul - Grabovski - Kulemin
Komarov - McClement - McLaren

Switch 2/3 if you want. That's my ideal lineup at this point.

Could see Lupul and Kadri doing well together. Something to maybe try out if the scoring dries up would be a Lupul-Kadri-Kulemin line. Kuli could open up a ton of space.

I remember the good old days where you could have three scoring lines and a shutdown line. Where the 3rd line was not all that far behind the 1st in terms of production. I'm not sure when this "third line is shutdown line, 4th line is plug line" necessity started.

Obviously you arent too familiar with Carlyles coaching system.
