Bruins...2011
Regular season was great because of being the most physical team in the league.
games like Dallas (3 consecutive fights in the 1st 3 seconds) and the Montreal Brawl with Thomas v Price and Thornton/Campbell/Boychuk taking care of business at the end.
For a fan of physical hockey and fighting, they were loaded. Lucic, Thornton, Chara, McQuaid, Horton, Ference, Campbell, Boychuk
Then the entire 2011 playoffs run was a 25 game rollercoaster. Yet another 7 game epic with Montreal, great back and forth series with TB and my god that game 7...
and of course the 2011 Finals need no explanation. So much emotion and hate.
This side of the '70s - I think '87-'88 gives 2011 a run. Lost the Finals to the Oilers but beat the Habs for the first time in decades.
Tough as nails hard-working team. For fan of physical hockey and fighting - try going up agains this line-up.
That season - up front they had Jay Miller, Byers, Neely, Markwart, John Blum, K. Crowder, Willie Plett, Burridge, G. Courtnall - that is as tough as it gets.
While on D. - You had Bourque, Kluzak, Reed Larson, Allen Pederson, Glen Wesley.
2407 Penalty Minutes and the only reason they never broke the all-time record is because most of them missed lots of games that season. Markwart only played 25 - 85PIMs, Blum, 19 games, 70 PIMS, Byers 53 games - 236 PIM, etc. but near every player on that team was over a a penalty minute per game.
