2012 easy

first cup

went freakin 16-4!!!! Beat nucks in 5, swept blues, beat yotes in 5 and devils in 6

Best 8th seed ever!!!

2014 was very close

down 3-0 to San Jose in the 1st round...coming back was special

2 cups in 3 years after 0 in 40 was pretty sweet

edit - (was late last night - meant to quote the 1993 Montreal post)

Truly excellent team, no doubt.

Could have been different though if the Isles, who just knocked out the 2 time Cup winners Penguins, had their 132 point 1C Turgeon available (Thanks Dale Hunter)

I witnessed the Isles Cup years but that 93 season was pretty sick.

Regular season was great because of being the most physical team in the league.

games like Dallas (3 consecutive fights in the 1st 3 seconds) and the Montreal Brawl with Thomas v Price and Thornton/Campbell/Boychuk taking care of business at the end.

For a fan of physical hockey and fighting, they were loaded. Lucic, Thornton, Chara, McQuaid, Horton, Ference, Campbell, Boychuk

Then the entire 2011 playoffs run was a 25 game rollercoaster. Yet another 7 game epic with Montreal, great back and forth series with TB and my god that game 7...

and of course the 2011 Finals need no explanation. So much emotion and hate.

Since I didn't get into hockey or become a Panthers fan until the 1996 playoffs, I feel like I can't choose that year. Since pretty much every season except for a few since then are ones I'd rather forget, I'll go with 2015-2016. Things finally looked like they were turning the corner long-term. Then, Vinny Viola's ego and Tom Rowe happened :(

05/06 was incredible, that playoff run was one of the best hockey moments I've had as a Oiler fan that I actually remember.

It's funny you mention this because 2003 is likely my favourite Sens team of all time, but I guess Jeff Friesen would have none of it. Gah, one more save Patty, one more save!

f***ing Havlat. Coughed it up in the Devils' end, and didn't move his feet once after letting Friesen get ahead of him at the Sens' blueline...

obviously 2006-2007 for the ducks

but 2002-2003 really isn't that far behind. one of the most unexpected cinderella runs to the cup finals in NHL history and coming within one game of beating the dynasty devils was so much fun to watch

It's kind of funny that we have the same years.

Oh well.

For the Hawks, it's close between 1984-85 and 2009-10.

The former is near and dear to my heart because of the heart and soul that team had, particularly against a far superior Oilers team in the conference finals.

The latter because, of course, we actually won the cup for the first time since 1961.

Capitals

Regular: 08-09 (prime Ovechkin, Backstrom, Green, and Semin was fun)
Playoffs: 2012 (beating the Bruins was fun, lost to the Rangers again but............... well i had to pick one year)

For the Caps, it's 2016-2017, despite the heartbreak at the end. It was the pinnacle of the franchise.
A close second would be 2009-2010, that team was fun to watch. Scored 4 goals almost every night.

2001 for sure. Mission 16W for Bourque, Sakic MVP season, All-star game in Denver, President's trophy, etc. That is a Franchise's dream to have a year like that.

This side of the '70s - I think '87-'88 gives 2011 a run. Lost the Finals to the Oilers but beat the Habs for the first time in decades.
Tough as nails hard-working team. For fan of physical hockey and fighting - try going up agains this line-up.

That season - up front they had Jay Miller, Byers, Neely, Markwart, John Blum, K. Crowder, Willie Plett, Burridge, G. Courtnall - that is as tough as it gets.
While on D. - You had Bourque, Kluzak, Reed Larson, Allen Pederson, Glen Wesley.

2407 Penalty Minutes and the only reason they never broke the all-time record is because most of them missed lots of games that season. Markwart only played 25 - 85PIMs, Blum, 19 games, 70 PIMS, Byers 53 games - 236 PIM, etc. but near every player on that team was over a a penalty minute per game.

I was two in 04 so not that lol.

I've been a real hardcore fan since 2012-13, and I would say, this season. Followed by 2014-15.
