agree. lak's first line should dominate vgk's first line, or any other when it comes to that. but kopi himself will also try to fill the gaps of drew and muzzin not being there, he'll be focused on defence even more than usual. this is also his job, not just shooting. he must provide a complete game tonight and he knows it. with pepto if needed :)

If Kopi is going to focus more on the d-side, than this is where Carter needs to show the **** up and carry the offense.

If the Kings are going to win the series then Kopitar's line will have to outscore Vegas' top line. Kings just don't have any scoring depth outside of 4 forwards.

Anyone know of a good place to find the odds on this game and the rest of the series? I live near the casinos in Lake Tahoe, am thinking of betting on this game, and the rest of the series and/or playoffs. Any help is appreciated!

Great point in the instagram comments pointing out the irony of George Parros lecturing the best defenseman on the planet on how to body check.

I'll say it again: One of the softest calls in 30 years of NHL hockey. One that will be remembered and debated forever. I'm not going as far as to imply the kingspiracy stuff here but for whatever reason it happened and it's very disturbing.

Anyone who believes the league doesn't play favorites and doesn't tamper with the game is out to lunch.

It's not a Kingspiracy, it is the fact that Vegas doing well is good for the league as a whole as the further solidification of that fan base bodes well for the future of hockey in the desert.

League dumped a franchise in the desert that had not won a first round playoff series since the 80s and watched them continue to not win a series until 2012. Last thing they want is another Coyotes situation on their hand. Toss in the fact that the Raiders will be there soon and it is imperative that Vegas build a fan base and maintain it.

That's nothing against their team. They have a good team, obviously. League set them up for a better expansion team than the last entrants to the NHL because of the market they are in. Will it work? Well, it is so far but winning will make it work anywhere. City has hockey fever and a deep playoff run will lead to even more continued excitement.

As a fan of the sport of hockey and US hockey, it is a good thing in the long run. As a Kings fan prior to Game 2 without Doughty, it is complete and total bullshit that the team I put so much time and money in to is being bent over for the greater good of the league and the sport.

Drew! I didn't realize how articulate he can be. Hard to argue much with what he lays out there.

I don't get it when they give a goon with a limited skill set like Parros this sort of job. Sure Parros can probably sense what is dirty and what isn't better then most but he has no idea what goes into playing high level defense at super high pace. It would be like me (a beer league sunday soccer player) handing out discipline in the Premier League. Not qualified.

Not defending Parros qualifications but I'm pretty sure that degree from Princeton helped.

Is there an appeal process for suspensions?
From the NHL website:

Yes. Players may appeal all on-ice discipline to the Commissioner, provided written notice of the appeal is provided within 48 hours. The Commissioner will endeavor to hear all appeals on an expedited basis and will determine whether the decision was supported by clear and convincing evidence.

In all appeals (first to the Commissioner and then to the neutral arbitrator), the Player will remain suspended pending appeal (unless the full term of the Player's suspension has run).

If Kopi is going to focus more on the d-side, than this is where Carter needs to show the **** up and carry the offense.

lak needs carter under any scenario, with or without drew & jake. kempe is doing fine as #3C, the center depth is there. now carter as one of the best #2C in nhl, first game he seemed both hungry and rusty, so yes, it is time to show up, but he also needs two wings to make the line work. the pressure here is not only on him. that chemistry things should start working, and soon.

If the Kings are going to win the series then Kopitar's line will have to outscore Vegas' top line. Kings just don't have any scoring depth outside of 4 forwards.

imho lak does a have a scoring depth. 3rd line is very fine depth, even to win a game like this. and vgk's defence is far from perfect, it can be exploited in different ways.

so often this season we complain why kings don't start the game from 00:00, from the very first second. now is a perfect time to change that "attitude". yea, it can be done.

tonight is going to be one of our finer moments and given that I fully expect the guys to step up and win a 5-4 type game , continue to punish them by finishing our checks , keep kempe going to the net now on the wing with kopi to feed him , we will now have marty and dion on the points for the power play , some here have wanted DD off the first unit , well here you go get those shots thru and fleury gave up some rebounds last game we just need to capitalize on them and keep harping on the dmen not to chase and keep those guys on the outside for the most part and hypnotize quick to think every period is the second and we come home with a split . ........ I wrote 2 or 3 lines about losing and how it would not be the end of the world scenario but I erased them because I just do not think that will happen so F*** IT full steam ahead and lets do this GO KINGS GO GO KINGS GO

Awesome statement! If you want to talk about momentum shifts in a series, this could be it. If the Kings rally the troops and pull off a win today, we have all the momentum in the world. I am very excited about this game. It could be a series, and perhaps, franchise shifting game.

I would've really liked to listen in on the hearing Drew had with DOPS. I wonder how combative he was. You're supposed to kiss the ass of the authorities and play nice guy in hopes they'll be easy on you, but we all know how Doughty is.

Doughty is like that guy that's a total jerk to the cop when he gets pulled over. If you're just nice about and admit some fault the cop will often cut you some slack.

Blake said he was happy with the way Doughty explained it to them, so I doubt he gave them any lip.

Blake and Stevens AND Drew all gave about as diplomatic a "f*** you" as one can get.

I'm sure they respect Parros--hell, I do too. But it's a bullshit decision. He's got thick enough skin to handle their comments.

DD must feel like absolute **** about this. Everyone knows he wears his heart on his sleeve.

Dude hasn't seen the inside of the press box since like 2014. I'm sure it's like a prison to him.

I can't wait to see him going HAM in Game 3.

if lak does win tonight, it will probably be the sweetest moment since 2014.

awakenings do not come easy, the path there is paved with pain, blood and tears.

just be courageous, believe in yourself, fight till the end, and you'll makes us proud.

gkg!

If we win this game we win the series.

Very true. This is a moment of opportunity. It's all about mindset.

That longer this stays close, the more the Kings will have the belief they can get out with a win. Need big time games from the big players. This is why you make mucho dinero, for games such as this.

Got to weather the early storm and hopefully get out of the first twenty minutes even. Scoring that first goal would be huge confidence wise.

I said I thought it was an iffy hit before. I was waiting to see the suspensions come down today on exactly those four hits DD pointed out. Same old crap with DOPS. Inconsistent BS. Call one, call them all.

If Johansson gets away with it, so should Doughty.

Terribad.
