You need 13-15 yards to get to your kickers range. You have 2 timeouts and 13 seconds left. So instead of throwing something over the middle to pick up at least 7-8 or maybe the entire 13-15, you chuck a deep ball.

It's just a purely stupid playcall. Even if the receiver comes down with it, there's not enough time for an endzone shot for the win, so you're just kicking it anyway. If there was 30 seconds left or something then a deep shot can make sense since you give yourself shots at the endzone.

The only explainable reason was to get the underthrown PI. But the Seattle defender turned his head around.

San Fran should have home field pretty locked up now, barring some bad losses to teams they should handle. Philly still controls their destiny for the NFC East if they win out as of now, as they have a stronger sov than Dallas which is where the tie would currently be broken if both finish 13-4.
