Buffalo is obviously going through a rough time this season and they'll probably be rebuilding for the next few years here.

Olofsson is a stud. While it feels like he's younger because he broke in the league last year, he's turning 26 this summer. So he's not really in the Dahlin/Cozens/Quinn group.

Would Buffalo consider moving him as a part of the rebuild?
Lol define stud. He’s cheeks at even strength, only an asset on the pp.

And who exactly is looking good 5v5 playing for Buffalo? Olofsson is tied 2nd in even strength goals and tied 3rd in even strength points on his team. If Olofsson is so mediocre 5 on 5, what does that tell you about that roster?

Simply put, Olofsson is a nice piece but his 5x5 numbers are awful. However he scores goals and the Sabres don’t do much of that. Trading him for a draft pick would be stupid and our current GM is way over his head, so I’d say there’s a 95+% chance he doesn’t get moved.

if I was offered a NHL ready prospect with some offensive upside I would definitely consider it but the Sabres won’t.

If the Sabres could find a team that thinks hes better than he is I would move him in a heartbeat. Hes an elite PP scorer, but nothing at ES. Someone would overpay thinking thats hes a perennial 30 goal guy because of his shot

He is fairly competent at 5v5. His defensive game has taking strides this year but still needs improvement. He is showing a willingness to hang out near the net which he has never done and he is getting rewarded for it. He will never be an intense forechecker or puck hound. He needs someone on his line to go in and dog the puck out. He understands spacing and where he needs to be to get off his shot. On the power play, he opens up so much space as teams cheat to him.

Pros:
Elite release
Great speed
Great IQ
Young
Still and RFA after this contract

Cons:
He isn't a line driver type
Not physical
Defensive game needs work but isn't a disaster

He isn't a guy we should be looking to move as he has high value with Eichel. If we get a great package with an NHL ready player and some picks, sure. I personally wouldn't move him.

I feel like Olofssons' ES play gets trashed on here more than it should. It's been steadily improving since coming into the league. He plays hard but isn't physical and is dangerous anytime the puck hits his stick inside the dots. If we had some more legit NHL talent to push him down to the third line (1st PP too obviously) he'd be great there IMO.

I feel the same. Though, even for an overpay in picks I don't think I'd do it. We have no one to replace him on the roster, we'd need an NHLer or NHL ready prospect coming back.

Interesting how much Sabres fans want Olofsson traded. Me personally have no desire to move him unless it’s an overpayment.

I would love to add VO if it was possible to get him without paying him an absurd amount and without giving up anything from our roster.

We don't have a lot of value though and I doubt GMBA wants to go that route.

It's dumb. The guy just scores goals. He's not a core player, but he's a damn good piece to have. Only way I'd move him is if it's a good hockey trade for us.
Yeah its stupid to move him because of this shitstorm of a season most Sabres players have had. Sure, he is what he is, but thats still a lethal PP weapon. As the tide rises around him with better players, he'll continue to be what he is, but a complimentary piece on a deeper club fills an important slot. 3LW PP specialist who'll still be RFA has a lot of value vs just dumping him in a change of scenery move or a lotto ticket future..

They should probably move him since Skinner can bring what he brings given the same opportunities and Olofsson has good trade value while they're stuck with Skinner. He's also pretty underwhelming as a two way even strength player. Very Mike Hoffman like

Him and Skinner are pretty different players. Skinner is good 5v5 and not so hot on the PP. Olofsson is good on the PP not so hot 5v5. I do agree though, he's very Mike Hoffman like.
