I mean, Oduya's great, but better than Heds? YEAH RIGHT.

Oduya got a free ticket because he played with Hjalmarsson in Chicago. No one considered him better individually but they were going for the whole chemistry thing.

This, it was also why Ericsson got to go, because he plays with Kronwall and our coach though that since the teams didn’t have a lot of time to practice it was better to have as many guys together as possible that knew each other from their regular teams, it wasn’t ideal but what can you do, hopefully they’ve learned and will start using Sweden’s younger ‘d’ in the future.

I know we are all Homers here. lol

But where would you rank these Olympic Swedish stud defenseman including Hedman?

Where would you insert hedman?

And the real Q is that there has to be something going on that we don't know about, but what happened? (and from what I heard is that he is not even on the reserve list, meaning if someone gets hurt Hedman will not even be a consideration to join the team) just WOW.

Ekman-Larsson, Oliver 5.5 - Hjalmarsson, Niklas 4.1
Hedman, Victor 4.0 - Strålman, Anton 4.5
Edler, Alexander 5.0 - Karlsson, Erik 6.5
Lindholm, Hampus 1.7 - Brodin, Jonas 4.2 (37.5)

According to Expressen (liberal) and Jonathan Lindqvist (intern?) Team Sweden could look like this:

Silfverberg – Backlund – Hagelin

Hedman РStr̴lman
Lindholm – Karlsson

Thought you guys might like this. Its about Victor Hedman getting help from Hans Jonsson (ex Penguins) to train to become the best (third summer they do this together) :)

http://www.allehanda.se/sport/ishockey/sa-tranar-hedman-for-att-bli-bast-i-varlden

My tidied up translation if anyone's interested:

For the third summer in a row Victor Hedman uses the help of Hans Jonsson.
Why? To become the best.

- "I wouldn't be where I am today without Hasse", says Victor.
Five times a week, for eight weeks this summer in Örnsköldsvik, Victor Hedman trains with Modo legend Hans Jonsson.
The entire body is being trained, every muscle gets its due and nothing is left to chance. It is a must - if you want to become the best in the world.
- "He has taken various steps over the years. He has become faster, more explosive and stronger. He also has his own specific requests", says Hans Jonsson.
What does he want to improve?
- "He wants to become the best. He has an incredible size and he's very fast for someone so big. But he still wants to become even more mobile around the corners and around his own crease, for example. It is about the small details. The muscle fibers are incredibly sensitive, but he'll take strides all the time. We have raised the bar this year".

Together with Joakim Dettner, who works for the STAC (Scandinavian Top Athletic Center), Hans Jonsson in dialogue with Victor has put up an individual training schedule. Explosiveness, speed and mobility are three areas of focus for the Tampa defenseman, who during his years with Hasse has grown into one of the NHL's best D-men.
- "It is no coincidence that Victor got to where he is. He has an incredible attitude and is so meticulous in everything he does. He's so easygoing and he asks things about his development, and we have a very good dialogue", says Hasse.

The training sessions at home in Ornskoldsvik vary in length and focus on the different parts Victor wants to improve. Everything is carefully planned and there is a clear purpose behind every moment in Victor's training.
It is not about exhausting yourself completely, but rather about working on small details that will bear fruit later.
- "It's tough, but it's not like I have to throw up from it. We have a good program and the biggest difference I have with Hasse is that I have an direction in the training", says Victor.
You have taken step after step every season since you started training with Hans, how important he has been to you?
- "He has been extremely important. I would never be where I am today without him. I train quite differently now and I've gone from, for example, longer intervals to make it more hockey-oriented".
I can imagine that this cooperation will continue next summer.
- "Absolutely. I hope so. It feels good to have a world class physical trainer here at home", says Hedman contently.

Hans Jonsson played 4 seasons in Pittsburgh. In Modo and Örnsköldsvik he is known as the biggest fitness freak ever so I like that Victor trains with him.

I still need to buy a Hedman jersey, but it's impossible to find one. Not unless I order a custom one. And that'll cost over $200 with tax. Not something I'm willing to do at the moment. Are there any cheaper methods? I've seen some pretty crappy looking replicas for dirt cheap, but I wouldn't go near those.

Prices of Lightning jersey's went up because of the cup run. You could with this http://www.shop.ca/c/tampa-bay-lightning-victor-hedman-77-official-home-reebok-nhl-hockey-jersey-sewn-tackle-twill-name-numbers-1-24240113

If it's your first time ordering from them, I think you get a $15 discount. Free Shipping too. When I ordered my Hedman jersey, it was $135.

Damn I'd be all in at $135. Thanks for the link though, at least I have it as a reference for when I can afford one.

More praise for the monster swede we showcase on our blueline:

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=779589

Hedman finally reached elite status last season because he showed on the national stage that he is equivalent to a package of Erik Karlsson and Shea Weber in Zdeno Chara's body.

"Very unique," said New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist, a fellow Swede who saw Hedman's star grow up close in the Eastern Conference Final last season. "He's tall, strong and he's a great skater who can move the puck really well. That combination makes him very unique.

"It was a matter of development," Hedman said. "I think the way I played in Sweden was similar, but I had flaws in my game. I feel like a more complete player now. Obviously it has to do with age and experience, but the way I played last year and in the playoffs is the way I envision it to be. It's up to me to not be satisfied. I have to look ahead and try to be even better."

The new Hedman Unibet-adds are posted all over Swedish websites now, a little weird to alwauys see Hedman everywhere but I'm not complaining, glad to see him get some recognition in Sweden, even if it is on an add for a betting company.

It's amazing 1/2 of this board was ripping into him nightly during the season. He changed a lot of views with a strong playoff

As an outside fan who was looking for Hedman to have a big year for fantasy I noticed he is not on the #1 PP pairing. Is Stralman really a better PP QB then Hedman and is this expected to continue?

Nope Stralman is not better, no idea why hedman is not on the 1st unit. I also think our 2nd pp unit is better then our first.

Right-handed. That's all. He's a right handed passer to feed Stamkos.

He doesn't do a good job at it tho, he doesn't have the touch. I remember the days of kurtis foster, he had it down to a science feeding stammer.

Edit: and he was a lefty

If it doesn't work, it'll probably change. Right now it looks decent enough though. The units are splitting time fairly evenly (a lot more evenly than last year) and Stralman is finding Stamkos pretty well. Found him today.
