Really interesting how far Rathbone has fallen, I remember Canucks fans were wildly high on him a year ago after being a PPG defenseman in the AHL but he seems like he had a down year.

This helps the Penguins with their AHL veteran numbers, so I imagine that's the basis for the trade. Rathbone isn't an AHL veteran yet while Friedman is, while the Penguins have like 8 or 9 AHL veterans in WBS right now.

Rathbone needs a fresh start so I'm happy for him. Don't know much about Friedman but worth a shot I guess? Meh.

Rathbone had fallen way down the depth chart. Has the offensive chops but still struggles to process the game defensively.
Think he will most likely stay an AHL player as he’s 24 years old now and hasn’t really progressed. Wish him the best.
Looks like we picked up a bottom pairing guy who can hopefully replace Juulsen. Still need to acquire a top 4 guy at some point though.

Rathbone has potential still, just not in Vancouver after the recent D focused makeover. So I like this from Dubas' perspective, it's a decent gamble.

Friedman is a really good depth defenseman. I hope the Canucks give him a real chance because Philly and PIT haven't. He could easily carve out a modern day Deryk Engelland career IMO.

Rathbone was allegedly the return for Marino if PIT chose to deal him to Vancouver. Interesting pick up. Wonder what it means for Ty Smith.

Pittsburgh won this trade. Rathbone is the only interesting player in this trade. He’s highly proficient as a pp qb, although his defense is really bad.

What a gigantic exaggeration lol.

I mean, a fan base isn’t determined by its most outspoken opinions, but early in his development there were some people talking on the board about trading Hughes because Rathbone could just replace him but with a better shot…

Was a big fan of Rathbone as a prospect in our Canuck farm. However he has really stagnated since drafting him. His defence never developed.

Gifted offensively but is small and plays small for being a Defenceman.

Boomer of a slapshot and skates very well. Unloaded a clapper this weekend that the goalie still hasnt seen.

Rathbone had a bad injury last year and lost a lot of development time as well.

Can Pitt fans provide a scouting report on the Friedman and Glover. Thanks
