Absolute heist
Small win but what a move. Whatever the opposite of death by a thousand cuts is, this is it…
Brick by brick?
Haven't seen Bloom play, but his production for his d+2 is nothing spectacular. Not signing him and getting the extra contract spot may be the best move. Getting out of having Stillman next year is a plus.
Also because I have to:
Edit: Bloom is under contact I see.
It is weird having management that doesnt make you want to gouge your eyes out
Not entirely true. The threshold is $1.1M. Stillman’s AAV is $1.35MThe cap hit disappears if he was waived. Making the $$$ disappear would make aqua happy. The prospect is a bonus.
...with a decent record on a bad team...ACTUALLY HOLY SHIT WE EVEN HAVE A LATVIAN GOALIE NAMED ARTURS!
Here on in, I expect you to post every time Bloom gets a point. You're the OHL guy, and you've got an obligation. At least the Canucks trade for Bloom can make me feel better after this unnecessary win

Quinn HughesWe’ve now made a trade with 3 “New York” teams. Who can we send to the Devils?
Yeah, intriguing concept. But try as I might, I can't come up with any package that benefits the Canucks. I am sure that NJ would kill to have him, but what could they send back that the Canucks would want that is worth probably a top 5 D man in the NHL ...Quinn Hughes
Very happy getting rid of Riley Stillman who is just about the most mistake prone defenseman that you can get. Although Stillman was starting to play better hockey as of late, I would much prefer to have another prospect for the cupboard. Stillman is a 7/8 defenseman on a good team, and Bloom sounds like he is a B level prospect.
Overall a nice trade by Allvin that makes the previous Dickenson trade not look so bad.
Meanwhile Jimbo gave either a 2nd or 3rd for...The difference now is that Allvin and the Canucks are acquiring these guys with almost no money down and no payments for years.
Whereas Benning was coughing up second and third round draft picks to acquire them. I have no idea whether guys like Studnicka, Kratzov, Bloom or even Bear have long term futures with the Canucks.
But the cost of acquiring them was for peanuts.
