I've liked his game for a long time. He's an ideal 4th liner with his combination of speed and size, he's also got a good shot. Sucks that his career potential is that of a 4th liner though he had top 6 potential at a time.

I like what I have seen so far, but I'm not going to get too excited. The guy needs a lot more to go right for him

I don't know, if he can stay healthy I can't see why he couldn't be a Ryan Jones like player. Someone that can chip in with 15-20 goals while playing 3rd line role. Jones himself was 26 or 27 when he broke out.

pitlick has more offensive upside than guys like maroon and kassian put together. if he can stay healthy hes playing a top 6 role going into next season... or at least battling with :] for that spot.

He has been very impressive, but i am curious if he can sustain this level of play to stay up in the big club. Especially when Hendo, Paks and Cagguila return to the lineup.

I love the way he finishes a hit! Great speed and a heavy shot - really impressed so far. Keep it up Pitty!

In Cagguila and Paks case I suspect the AHL could be used for conditioning. Which could buy Pits or Slepy more time and force the team to either keep those guys down or waive Lander.

I don't remember if Paks needs waviers, but he can be sent for conditioning stint I believe.

If he can stay healthy, i could see a broadziak type career path, bottom 6 player who can effectively fill in in a top 6 role when needed. Also, he played excellent last night, very impressive.

He's Pakarinen with a bit more speed, a bit more physicality, and quite a bit more offensive instinct. If he is able to stay healthy and continues to play this style of game, I see no reason why he couldn't fit into the team like a Dupuis type player. I already know he would look good playing on McDavid's wing. Guy can score goals and loves digging in the corners, plus he is much better than Eberle at retrieving and keeping pucks, and a way quicker skater. I think McLellan will try this out at some point and it will pay dividends. A line of Maroon-McDavid-Pitlick reminds me a bit of Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis. That line dominated possession, and Crosby didn't need linemates who drive play. Same with McDavid, he wants players on his like who don't need the puck. They get him the puck and all they care about is trying their hardest to do so. Eberle is my that kind of player. This aLlows us to load up a 3rd line who should feast on bad opposition a la Hagelin-Bonino-Kessel.

Damn this is a jinx thread. I swear there was a similar thread last year after camp and then he nailed a Flames player and was out for 6000 months.

With that being said, if hes stays healthy dude is going to be a good 3rd liner. I have no questions. Every time he plays he impresses. Its not a question of skill, its a question of can his body not spontaneously combust

Just needs to stay healthy. Could still carve out a nice career for himself.

Honestly, I thought his tools were apparent years ago.

He plays a Taylor Hall style of reckless hockey and he'll have to find a way to stay out of the hospital, but we have something here if he can do that.

It's so nice to see the farm start producing some actual players over the last couple of seasons.

I don't know that I would limit his potential to that of a 4th liner. Obviously he still has to stay healthy and keep up this level of play, but he fits more of a 3rd line type IMO when watching him play. His shot and skating ability alone certainly seem to indicate better than 4th line ability.

My biggest complaint with Pitlick is that I didn't think he had the offensive chops to make it in the bigs. He can skate and hit well enough, but in previous seasons he was more or less invisible offensively.

Now he's unleashing that hard shot and he's going to the right places in the offensive zone.

Good for him!

This guy fell to us in the second round of his draft. Easily the BOP. Easily one of the most exciting second round picks that I can think of from the Oilers period.

His injuries most likely permanently limited his overall effectiveness, but based off his skill set/pedigree I was expecting this guy to be a top 9 winger as opposed to a bottom 6 winger he seems to be tracking to be now.

He had a great camp and been one of our best so far in 4 games. Like someone else mentioned he has a ways to go before you could even really pencil him in as a NHL fixture. 4 games does not a season make.

Absolutely love this guys tool set. NHL skating, size, and shot since day one and looks to have improved. His playmaking and general hockey IQ seems to have improved as well.

Hope this guy doesn't Lander us with a fools gold performance than falls away... or gets injured again. We need a depth guy capable of scoring some goals and he certainly fits the bill right now.

Given his play so far this season (combined with the bits and pieces I've seen in previous seasons when he wasn't injured), I'd place him as a bottom 6er, with the potential to move up for a couple games here and there to provide energy and if injuries hit us the way they normally do (though if the injuries hit us hard again, it would be strange if he wasn't part of it).

Hopefully he continues his solid, energized play and stays healthy.

we now have a good problem. Our healthy roster has tough decisions to make in the bottom six. I would figure it's Caggiula and Letestu at center. For the four winger spots, Pitlick, Hendricks, Kassian, and of course Maroon/Pouliot. So maybe Pakarinen as 13th forward. That puts Slepyshev, Lander, and Puljujarvi in the AHL. Puljujarvi is crazy skilled, but at least there is a potential developmental reason to have him in the AHL. Slepyshev was really great though, and has been strong on the puck and the body. Lander seems obvious as someone to get sent down, but he does help our PK quite a bit, and I thought he was very good last game. McLellan also likes centers, and would probably like having a center as the 13th forward, especially one that's a PK specialist who's good on faceoffs.

+1

He could always skate, hit, and deke (I remember saying he looked like Hemsky in the AHL) but his offensive IQ was low. He's definitely improved there.

We need more draft picks like him to become NHL regulars not waiver fodder like Chorney, VandeVelde, MPS.

I am cheering for this guy.

Since he had the baby I think he realized that in order to provide he needs to give it everyday. Hope he stays healthy and keeps it up.

I think he's always realized he needs to give it everyday. Someone just forgot to tell his body that.
