Tanev was pretty bad in the playoffs. I watched all the Vancouver games and he stood out to me in a very bad way. It looks like he's lost a step or two. He was consistently slow on recovering dump ins, slow to move the puck and getting beat with speed on zone entries. Unless he was playing hurt, there's no way he's worth $5 M

Uhhhh what...

Canucks right side right now only has Tyler Myers and RFA Troy Stecher.

Its looking more and more likely that they are choosing to walk away from Chris Tanev.

Dhaliwal is speculating the Canucks will go after Shattenkirk if they fail to land OEL.

What kind of term and AAV is Shattenkirk looking for ?

I suspect he would be a short term stop gap plan for the Canucks like a Tyson Barrie , assuming those players are okay with a short term 1-2 yr deals. Then the Canucks will go big game huntin in 2022 when all their bad contracts expire and big names like Seth Jones, Morgan Reiley, Matias Ekholm, Adam fox, etc become free agents.

Adam Fox hahaha oh wait your serious hahahahaha

It’s laughable you think Fox would leave for the Nucks via offer sheet.......

what offer sheet? isnt Adam Fox a UFA in 2022? if he's RFA then ya scrtach him off the list. nobody does offer sheet hese days successfully, not worth it

Shattenkirk still has some terrible adventures in his own end. He's still got it offensively though. Worth a decent contract to a team who will use him on PP1, especially if you can pair him with somebody who cleans up mistakes.

The crappy thing is that the Canucks lack both defensive competence on the blue line and players who can transition the puck. It's a really terrible defensive group. Shattenkirk (or Barrie) would help in the latter, but now you have both him and Myers on the right side as guys who make terrible defensive plays that lead to goals. Tanev helps with the former but even there he's lost a step. The team desperately needs a two-way guy onnthe right side who can play top pair, but that's nearly impossible to find and Myers' shitty contract doesn't help. I wouldn't be opposed to Shatty though. He'll make less than Myers despite being a much better player

Where does Dhaliwal say that? Can't take anything Taj says as credible.

Pietrangelo would help.

Shattenkirk had his weaknesses hidden again on a really good team and some team is going to make a mistake. Vancouver would be stupid to go for him, you already have a younger/better PP specialist and Shatty is not going to be able to mentor Hughes on how to actually play the defensive side of things ... I do not think it is a good fit and I am a Shatty fan. He just has to be put in the right spot and protected from his very weak defensive play.
His weaknesses were NOT hidden--more like they were overcome.

100% agree Canucks fans don't wanna admit it but he was downright terrible in the Vegas series.

I thought the Canucks D was ...ok, on the whole. Room for improvement, but if Juolevi can be even a decent third pairing guy with some puck skills, then all the need is a top 4 2 way guy. Easier said than done.

Oh, and that's not Shattenkirk.
