What team would take Gally's contact for a 1st? Seriously?

There are a lot of stupid teams.
I would take Gallagher contract... he's done!

2-8 with a total rebuild necessary vs a SCF team 3 months ago is what happened. When nothing is working, you need to tear it down to the studs.

Unlike Bergevin, I can pivot and adapt.

That’s the worst thing to do though, managing with emotion after 10 games

I look at it this way.

Petry is a 1st and a top prospect all day.
Gallagher will definitely get you a 1st +. He's a guy that GM's love.
Edmunson will get you a 1st and a middling prospect at the deadline with the year left.
Chiarot will get you a late 1st at the deadline.
Toffoli is a 1st or 2nd + high end prospect
Kulak, Allen and Perrault should all net you mid round picks.

We can point to the terrible start to the season these guys are having, but history will dictate their price more than a 10 game stretch.

MB just needs to bite the bullet now and let this team bottom out even worse than it is.

Have you seen them play lately? This isn’t an “emotion” call. This is a team whose done. Entire leadership core is gone, there was an exodus of players leaving, and even management doesn’t want to stay. This isn’t a little slump and there is no help coming. They through everything they had at a cup run and now it’s over. Time to rebuild with a new GM and start a new era.

There are no shortage of teams who want a gritty, heart and soul, 30 goal player who you can insert in any leadership core. Toronto for one since they lost Hyman. Vancouver as well. Then go down the list and if through in Philly, Boston, Calgary, Florida, Vegas, Dallas, etc etc.

You can’t convince me that there isn’t 1 single GM who wouldn’t give a 1st for Gally.

Other then the pacioretty deal that he was forced to do, when was the last time Bergevin got max value for any player in a trade? He always hangs on to them for way too long in the hope of making the playoffs and ending up in no man's land

GMs love Price too but the Seattle Kraken chose Cale freaking Fleury instead of him because they and other GMs know Price's contract is an albatross.

Again it’s 10 games, with big injuries and a small offseason. It was 100 % predictable that our start of the season would suck (maybe not 2-8 but under 500)

But with Weber reportedly done, Price in rehab and other mportant leadership players gone, this isn’t a turnaround story. They blew their load for a Cup run, and good for them for what they accomplished but it’s over. No #1 goalie, #1 D or #1 center. We’re not going anywhere. Embrace the suck and hope for Wright or Bedard and build around what we have.

The fact people think Gally or Petry won’t fetch at least a 1st is typical underrating your own players.

Petry would get us way more than a 1st as he's on a value contract at a premium position. However, good luck replacing his minutes.

I don't see anyone giving up a 1st for Gally's contract, lack of production and downward trajections however.
