Again no way yotes players stay in the west unless you overpay.

For the east. Jagr, stafford, etc... Is more viable. Maybe even Stewart.

thank you! everyone on this board over rates players values. look at the Perron trade, in essence, that was not much to give up at all.

Kessler had a NTC and only wanted to goto ducks or hawks. Canucks couldn't get anything for him so of course his valu was low, and yeah Perron was a good trade but a trade to the eastern conference. You think chicago, Anaheim or nashville gets Perron for a late round 1st and some garbage? Not gonna happen.

Jagr would be a lot of fun, but we are close to having the best record in the NHL - and we are playing good D. Still. I would do a third liner and a third rounder; and use him as a power play specialist.

Poile won't be trading any of the D. His philosophy has always been to build from the net out. We have one of the best goalies in the league and a great young D corps locked up for a long time. Mission accomplished.

You don't remove a piece from that to plug a hole (#1 C) that, I would argue, does not exist. Ribs and Fisher are our top two centers. Both should re-sign for another season or two. Fiala is slated as a future #1. Forsberg, Neal, Smith, and Wilson are all young and round out the top 6 nicely. We are set up for a long run.

Trading a second round pick for a veteran forward (Jagr) is the type of deal that I would expect. Trading Jones or Ellis for a #1 center is nothing more than a message board fantasy.

I agree. Not to be boastful, but we really don't have any major holes that need to be filled. Other teams may want Jones but we have no real reason to trade him or mostly anybody from the roster now.

Also need to consider that if anyone is traded from our defense (not going to happen), it would be a lefty. We do not have another NHL caliber right handed D-man. Similar to last year where Ellis' play made Klein expendable, Bartley's play this year makes Elkholm or Volky expendable.

Moot point since I don't think that there is any chance that Poile messes with the best D in the NHL.

Blues are carrying 3 goalies. Wouldn't mind bringing Brodeur on board. Can't be any more inconsistent than Huts. Makes perfect sense really. Probably won't cost anything of significance. 6th rounder.

Jagr won't cost us a 2nd round pick ....NJ won't get that and trading Jones is ridiculous. The board is still under the Trotz mentality. Player makes a mistake he sits or in the doghouse...Young players make mistakes and they learn by continue playing. I think Jagr would be a great addition but not at a great expense.

It shouldn't cost anything ...if they waive him then he'll be FA

Blues would never trade him to us... Maybe if he is waived we can get him, but not via trade as it stands right now with a divisional rival.

It's a backup goalie who's on his last legs. Not really a deal I'd be afraid to make with anyone. Rosey makes a good point though. It's also likely he just becomes an FA eventually.

Best move I can see being made would be to get Vermette and slot him in as our 3rd line center. Having Ribs, Fisher, Vermette, and Gaustad down the middle would be wonderfull for the playoffs. If we then could get Jagr I would be ok with that as well but faceoffs are an issue with our team right now and playoff time that will be even more of an issue. Vermette is very strong in that area so he would be a huge pick up.

Who replaces Ekholm? Ellis can be replaced by Jones.

Bartley, and Volchenkov. Plus Diaby coming up, high end iq defensemen like Ellis are extremely hard to replace, whereas defensemen like Ekholm i.e middle of the road, are easier.

I think the only way Jones is traded is if someone blows Poile's mind with an amazing offer in the off-season. I don't expect him to make any moves involving the D this season. The only move I really expect Poile to make would involve trading a 2nd-round pick or below, and/or a prospect, to pick up a veteran forward for more scoring depth. Not a superstar guy unless he's well past his prime like Jagr, but someone who could come into the team and play 2nd/3rd line minutes and produce with Jarnkrok and ... I guess Cullen when everyone is healthy?

But even that isn't strictly necessary and will probably only happen if he thinks he's found someone that will be a perfect fit.

This! Vermette could cost us some assets but really feel that if we are going to compete for the cup he could be the perfect player to help us. We have to be strong down the middle and he is pretty much ideal fit to Preds imo.

Forsberg-Ribs-Neal
Wilson-Fisher-Smith
Jarnkrok-Vermette-Beck/Stalberg/Cullen
Nystrom-Gaustad-Beck/Stalberg/Cullen

Thoughts on Jvr? Big body, great hands around the net. Would be a nice compliment to any of the other wingers.

FF - Ribs - Neal
Jvr - Fish - Wilson
Bourque/Arco - Hook - Smith

Now whether it's Ellis or Jones that is needed to go the other way is the tough question. Workings of a good deal for both sides though.

if we are trading this d away it should be for a need only so young center.. no need to break up this d for a winger

Fair enough. For the record I highly doubt a core piece is moved before the TD. Not with the current place in the standings anyway. The movement of an Ellis/Jones could be more of an offseason venture.
