I wouldn't want to crush those dreams ODAAT. ;)

But if they were paired up on the PP, it could be awesome.

I think we`ll see it from time to time, what I see being a huge plus is the quick puck movement if those three were together, it`d drive opponents batty

I'm already having visions of Spooner on the half-wall, pass through the seem to McAvoy on the left point, over to Krug for the one-timer and in as the crowd erupts.

Anyone know anything about how he's doing? I said it when it happened and I hope that I was wrong that IIRC it takes 6-8 weeks for a broken jaw to heal enough for a player to make it back.

Might be a little generous, but he's definitely underrated around here and he's definitely top 20-25. He's a game-breaking player... I have no doubt we beat Ottawa if he's in the lineup.

Yeah, generous, I think. I just don't think that fancy stats control for deployments well enough. I have no proof of this, but it doesn't smell right. Still, I think Krug is a top 30 D, he just needs the right partner.

And it’s not just a made up list either. They use criteria to arrive at their rankings. It’s the latest in their series listing the top players by position using that criteria. Lots of Bruins making the grade with Bergy. Marchand, Krejci, Pasta, Rask and now Krug fittingly being recognized.

Trouble inserting the SN link using the URL feature for some reason. It strangely works fine for all other sources. Dropping it in the the text portion of the message in hope it works.

Yeah, but don't you guys think we should trade him for a 4th liner or a 4th round pick? :blah:

Krug is awesome and I'm glad the advanced metrics show it. Hope he's in Boston for a long time.

Agreed. The guy is way awesome and I hope he retires a Bruin a long time in the future.

I admit I was one of the skeptics when he first came onto the team; I was thrilled with his heroics against the Rangers in the playoffs, but I honestly thought he was gonna be a one-dimensional shooter that had no ability to play in his own zone....Despite being 5'4, myself, as a rule, I don't really like seeing the B's employ Dmen who are under 6' at all.

And God I am SO glad I am not a hockey scout. He has made me eat crow more than a dozen times, since. I used to cringe when he'd have to play in his own zone; but since the past year or so, I now feel no need to worry when he has to do that. He's shown time and time again he is more than capable of handling defensive duties, even with his lack of size. And that's not even to mention his scrappiness! I was excited to see him go at Shaw, for example.

I have yet to buy a B's jersey, but if I do, i'm seriously considering it as a toss up between Chara (Out of respect for a great B's captain who's won the cup and been a great face for the franchise for years) or Krug, who is the future of the team. I hope he heals up quick, because this team definitely needs him, McAvoy or no.

I respectfully disagree. Time and time again he is over powered. And has always been. There is a reason he was not drafted. It is because he cannot handle NHL players in his end. It happened that we have needed an O dman for a long time so Chia took a shot. Again, I admire his spunk and he attacks the net very well but in my opinion he is a bottom pairing guy that if a team can afford to carry a PP specialist, He could be that guy.

Maybe I am just used to defensemen who play defense. I have seen every game he has ever played and his defense has not improved. I would trade him or I could live with him at 3M 3.5 tops. But to me, he is a great chip because he is over rated in my opinion. To me, He is a very very poor mans miniYandle. Funny how guys here hate the thought of Yandle here because he is not good defensively, but want to pay this guy 5 M because he is good offensively. Yet not as good as Yandle offensively. I don't get it.

6 goals last night and Krug was basically invisible. We do not need this guy. Morrow will be a better all around player some day, Sell this guy while the shine is still on. He should be part of a package for a real dman.
you still think Morrow is a better player

Starting to really think the Bruins should think about moving him, with the play of Charlie and the depth of good Defeceman they have in Providence. If they could get any offers for a young top six forward,I think they should jump on it.

Minus 10 to start the season is definitely concerning. Considering the Bs have only played 9 games and Krug has played 8 of those.

Really hope he gets it going

Agreed. That minus 10 = he is in spot #702 of 704 players (funky thing is that #703 is OEL and #704 is Letang...) who set foot in the NHL so far this year.

I`m as worried about Krug finding his game this year as I was during the year his contract took a bit long to get done and last year where it took him a bunch of games to get caught up which is to say.....not one bit concerned

Years ago, everyone was clamoring for defensemen who can actually move the puck. Torey Krug comes onto the scene and within a year, he is getting ripped nearly nightly for not being good defensively.

The reality: with very few exceptions, almost all offensive D-men are not great defensive defenseman. Part of that is because it isn't their skillset. The other part of it is that if you are committed to offense, you cannot be two places at once.

In Torey Krug's situation, people could really help themselves by accepting the facts behind a truly offensive D-man.

I certainly have voiced opposition to him being the go-to guy during 3 on 3 OT, but I fault Cassidy for that much more than I do Torey Krug.
