This is the most scary part for me, he is not worth what he is making right now, let alone 5m. No way DS gives him that and I would not be shocked if he is part of a package moved to get a top pairing Dman soon. Him, Loui and a good prospect could pry a good dman for St Louis, Anaheim or maybe the Jets.

Certainly hasn't played exceptional after his great start but we would miss him.

If he doesn't start playing soon, his price will go down significantly... This is the worst possible time for him to slump.

That's because Kevan Miller is basically always terrible, Torey Krug on the other hand is not

Krug was indeed very bad last night but he still has plenty of rope left with me- Miller on the other hand...

Paying him $5 million seems like a very bad idea to me. I know some people like him a lot and think he is a top 4 guy but I don't see that kind of defense from him ever. Maybe I am being pessimistic but I think he is a bottom pairing D who is also a great power play guy.

Totally agree, would love to see Boston offer him up in a package deal. But he also needs to be moved no matter what..

I knew Krug was going to be a problem for us one day. He is a perfect #5 guy/PP specialist, but due to his numbers and skillset he's going to command top 4 money. They have tried working him into top 4 minutes but he's just not that guy, at least not without a legit #3 partner.

Finally ready to let krug go. Last year he was a few of the only bright spots. Like his game even though he was undersized. I have no problem trading him, he had a phenomal shot now he cant even find the dam net anymore. Doesn't bring enough offense to make up for his lack of defense. However im sure if another team can pair him with a good partner he would be much improved. Just not a fit with us especially at long term big money. Sweeny you have my blessing not that you needed it.

I don't see how people think he's worth 5M

The market is the problem, he is already making 3.4M on a 1year contract, and he has been putting up 40 point seasons and is a great puck mover.
He will be a 3rd pairing player in few years in Boston and hopefully it isn't with a 5M cap hit.

Well, 5M is the market for a PP specialist. If he was a top two way Dmen, it would be 7-9M. Personnally, I have no problem paying for a PP specialist, even if he's a 3rd pairing ES guy. You need to pay to get offense. If you don't like paying ~5M for an offensive D, you will always be trading them as soon as they hit RFA/arbitration rights...

As for Krug, he is having a very bad year offensively. Producing under his average for the last two season and that is with 1st unit PP icetime on one of the best PP in the league.

I don't know what his next deal will be. But his offensive numbers from this year won't help him a lot in his negociation.

Needs to be moved no matter what?

Why?

Is he a team cancer? Has he given an indications that he will not be reasonable in his negotiations? And the idea than he's fallen off offensively is BS. He's on pace for the same amount of points as the last two years, just with more assists because his shooting % is only 1.8%. If he we anywhere his normal % he would be on pace for career highs.

I look at Krug and see a leader, a battler, a kid that wasn't drafted and worked his ass off to make it to the NHL despite lacking ideal size. He just gave away 50+ Pounds and 6 inches fighting Chris Stewart for Christ's sake, and people want to trade him?

Jesus, these are the kinds of players YOU WANT ON YOUR TEAM!!!

This place slays me sometimes...

I agree with most of what you are saying, except for the "very bad year offensively" part.

2013-14: 79 games, 14g/26a/40p

2014-15: 78 games, 12g/27a/39p

2015-16: 81 games, 5g/33a/38p (projected)

No inside knowledge but he's going to ask to be paid...in my eyes he's already overpaid.
Personally I like the upside of C. Miller and Morrow better and they'd come cheaper and offer the same offense in time as Krug does now.

Holy overreaction.

Kid might have had some bad games but he doesn't deserve this. There's very little reason to trade him and he's only improving in the future.

Opposing teams have adjusted and accounted for him really well in the offensive zone. Now it's time to allow for Krug to adjust back and find a way to be a very effective offensive defenseman.

He's definitely NOT just a powerplay specialist and will be worth a RAISE but he won't get 5 million. We should keep him on the team.

Those that think he's overpaid.... :shakehead

Definitely bottom pairing D-man. When he can't hit the net he negates any PP specialist tag. No way at 5 million. Not a chance.

Krug is a keeper if he stays affordable. It's still all bonus with him which is fine, but when he starts making real coin and they depending on him he's going to have to bring more and more consistently.

Guy's a warrior. This team needs as much character as it can get and Krug has that in spades.

He doeant look as srrong this year. He'll come around. I see a lot of Edelman in him. Give him time. Over the longer term, he'll outwork everyone else and will himself into a better player.

If they don't resign him he'll blossom on the next team provided they have at least two top four defensemen.

5'10" Vatanen with 25 points is a savior.

5'9" Krug with 25 points is a #5.

Ok then.

I had the same initial reaction to the Vatanen rumors but some here have rightly pointed out that Vatanen plays top PK minutes on one of the best PKs in the league so they aren't exactly carbon copies of each other. And adding a 2nd Krug would make this team better anyway as Krug is probably our 2nd best D (not saying much).

BTW I wasn't saying earlier that the Bruins should get rid of Krug. I love the guy, but I think the Torey Krug as top 4 D experiment is kind of a failure. He's not a guy who can anchor your 2nd pair and maybe never will be.
