He had a poor start to the year and dug himself a hole of -9 in October alone.
While he gave up some goals, Krug also scored some huge ones where if he didn’t, they weren’t getting past Toronto.
Overall Krug was on the ice for 108 goals for and 65 against. In the playoffs he was 21 for and 16 against
Gryz was on the ice for 51 for and 23 against. In the playoffs that was 5 for and 6 against.
16 against in the playoffs....One of the worst if not the worst stat in the playoffs
alot of these came off crucial 1st goals given up or quick rebound goals that sapped the teams momentum
Krug may have scored that key game 7 goal...but it didn't have to get to a game 7. Its medicine/poison
Krug in reality is really a third pairing D (on 5 v5) , PP specialist...... So Cassidy should drop him to this slot while keeping his PP slot the same. Yet the team just resigned a younger Grz , who is also a 3rd pairing D (and much better 5v5). Both are 3rd pairing Ds, both are undersized..... something has to give
