Nah.

It falls apart for me at Fabbro in, Lijegren out. Also, given how few draft picks the Leafs have currently, furthering that for a sideways move makes it even less appealing.

If there's a deal between the two clubs for Fabbro and Robertson (perhaps with some extras), then I'd look at that.
What do you honestly think is going to happen to TOR's draft picks this season? They are going to be sellers at the deadline? They are going to stay firm and not trade with any team?

Can’t bother to refuse what you wouldn’t take the time to even consider I suppose.
Thanks. Hi5

I could read only the bottom of the post without the player inclusions and guess what fan base it came from...

Well, I'd prefer not to have none over the next three drafts, and if they do move another, a lateral move like this isn't really that compelling. reason to move two more.

We'll see. I propose this, but I have a hidden agenda that hasn't really been picked up on.

No interest whatsoever in that offer from the Predators camp. There are no players coming back that do anything for us, and we have tons of draft picks in the mid rounds anyway and no room to sign everybody we'll be picking down the road. The 3rds are meaningless to us, we have no use for Samsonov, and there's no advantage to the Liljegren/Fabbro lateral swap. There's just nothing there to motivate a trade with that many pieces in it. We'll give you Lankinen for not much, maybe. That's about it.

So Nashville get 3rd round picks in 2023 & 2025 and you're acting like this will set their franchise up for years to come.... I really hope you're being sarcastic, but it hard to tell.
You just decided to come at me hard with criticism and not mention the RFAs in the deal?

As a Preds fan I can easily refuse this. Why would I want a head case for a back up at that price? How about we keep the backup we have for much less money?

LW Cole Smith $775, 000
D Dante Fabro $2,500, 000 (RFA)
G Kevin Lankinen $2,000,000
4th round draft pick in 2025

:nashville

Ilya Samsonov $3,550,000
Nicolas Robertson $796,667 (RFA)
Timothy Liljgren $1,400,000 (RFA)
3rd round pick in 2025
3rd roud pick in 2023

Toronto recieves a RHD RFA, a back-up goalie, and some grit on LW.
NASH takes on Ilya Samsonov who is a project, gains 2 RFAs (1 winger and 1 RHD). They gain 2 x 3rd round draft picks for taking Samsonov.

This is a fair offer for both sides. NASH cannot refuse because of all the futures they'll be gaining in the deal.
Hopefully this will help Toronto in short-term going into the playoffs.

Don't think too much about this offer. It's already been actioned. I'm not really asking for permission. I am more telling you how it is out of respect.

This is not a good trade offer and is easily refused by Nashville.

Nashville has Saros and Askarov. They don't need a goalie making 3.5M.
Even if you were to consider that every other piece in this deal were a fair value deal... it's DOA because Nashville doesn't want or need Samsonov at 1.5M more in salary.

Becquse most trades don't involve Nylander, Crosby, McDavid, etc. Teams like NSH need to draft/ acquire RFAs. Teams like TOR need to improve their depth, and round out their team for the playoff push.

Just because the trade doesn't involve players who do the Michigan doesn't mean it can't exist.

Do you want a Zegras for Bedard trade? Then make it happen. Start a new thread.

No, but Nashville needs to deal away a goalie more than they need to trade for one with a 3.5M salary. Not that they are in any dire rush to trade Saros or Askarov, but they'd be much further ahead dealing one of them and getting actual legit futures or good current players than doing this garbage swap.

Nashville has 3 1st round picks and 4 2nd round picks in the next 2 drafts. This is after drafting 2 players in the 1st round last year, trading for a 1st round prospect from 2022, and having 4 of their own 1st round picks developing in Milwaukee. Meanwhile on their own roster they have Novak, Evangelista, Parssinen and Tomasino playing nightly and still trying to make room for Stastney. How much younger and how many more prospects does Nashville need?

The only thing Nashville needs is patience.
