We just decided this guy was a key part of our group for half a decade.
Gets murdered and just shrugs.
Winner.
The stats are what get you paid though. Eating defensive minutes frequently goes unrewarded. And the role he played for the Leafs last season is probably not where fans want to see him long-term. You hope a better, more offensive player comes along eventually to add depth. His stats are by far the least impressive thing Kampf does.
He literally eats heavy defensive effectively, solid on the dot, solid on the PK.
Jeez, is he really that bad? $2.4mil isn't that much for a guy who can do bottom 6 center duties while potting 25+ points.
Who in free agency are you getting that can do that for cheaper?
He's being paid more than a team with our salary structure should pay for a 4C and has next to no offensive game which eliminates him as a potential 3CSuch a strange overreaction
2.4M for Kampf doesn't seem awful
It's not "bad". But we see time and again that locking yourself in to a 4th liner usually ends in regret.I don't understand the hate here, he's a solid bottom 6 D man. He can PK, responsible defensively, good on faceoffs. What more do you want lol, he can play either the 3rd/4th line. This is a fine signing, not some home run deal, but it's definitely not a bad deal.
Center you mean.I don't understand the hate here, he's a solid bottom 6 D man. He can PK, responsible defensively, good on faceoffs. What more do you want lol, he can play either the 3rd/4th line. This is a fine signing, not some home run deal, but it's definitely not a bad deal.
Ah I meant bottom 6 playerCenter you mean.
I'll consider this deal a cheaper Kerfoot replacement, with better defense, except he wont be sliding up to play on the top line wing any time soon.
If he's given slightly better linemates, he may be able to produce more offense as a #3C, or he'll be used in a pure shutdown role like he usually is.
Alternatively, he can give a good defensive insurance to a shift disturbing 4th line and compensate for any defensive deficiencies the bottom F would likely have
he's paid for what he brings ...Just reading an old Athletic article from last April that had Kampf ranked as the 13th best Top 5v5 Shutdown Centers in the league 1 spot ahead of Kopitar. He's being paid more than a team with our salary structure should pay for a 4C and has next to no offensive game which eliminates him as a potential 3C
He had 2 separate stretches where he had 0 goals for 20+ games lmao
Because he's a pu$$y like his captain... scared of getting punched if a guy attempted to injury me on a delayed penalty call on a late hit as well... I would have lost my mind!!! and went red... every man and especially hockey player, should know how to give and take a punch. PERIOD. But more importantly, know when its the right time to FINALLY STICK UP FOR TEAMMATES! Finally have the team building, line brawling, amalgamating team moment!.. I'm still waiting for that with this team, may never come
The only thing worse than that moment was the Knies choke-slam and ZERO retribution...
Whimp teams are tough for even loyal fans to rally behind...
You sound unhinged...
Deals like these put the Leafs in the same spot as the Oilers. Having Yamamoto (3.1), Foegele (2.75) puts near $4M in guys that don't impact the game. (And in one year that money is needed for AM34 and Willy)
This leaves about $6.5M to sign...5 forwards, 1 dman and Samsonov. If Muzz is on LTIR, you have $11.75 or so. Some people say Samsonov is around a $5M signing so back to $6.5 to sign 6 players to replace...Accari, Ashton-Reese, Bunting, Kerfoot, ROR, Simmonds, Schenn/Holl. (Running a 22 man roster)
Not impossible but not a rosy picture.
This is why I don't love it either, we have a cheaper, younger replacement ready to go.Either way this is meh
- this is where we spent the cap raise
- if this is for 3C then we will have an underwhelming offensive depth again
- if this is for 4C holmberg wont be getting an extended look at center.. i like holmberg is my point
So bland... we how have jarnkrok and kampf locked into term
