Conversation that was just had a 9:00am meeting.

Meeting Organizer: "We are changing the group name to Advanced Analytic Services"

Attendee 1: "We've been Budgeting and Forcasting for about 100 years, why the change?"

MO: "It is more current, it is very topical thus more appealing to our clients and potential data scientist recruits"

Attendee 2: "So we're changing the name of a 100 year old group for a buzzword? Last I checked multivariate regression is still math"

MO: "Yes, but the term Analytics is exciting and has generated more interest in what we do, and quite frankly, the kids love it"

True story.

I mean, from a marketing standpoint they're not wrong. Throwing the word Analytics into **** is big right now, and it makes people that don't actually understand business terms think you're doing more than you actually are.

I need to update to a new Garmin.

Anyone have experience with Garmin's LMT models and how their live traffic feature compares to GOOG traffic?

The reason I ask is I find GOOG traffic on the cell phone to be pretty much balls on accurate, and if I buy a new auto GPS device, having accurate live traffic info is the #1 feature I care about.

S340? I like that case, want to do a custom loop in one.

So much arm room. NZXT and Phanteks are the best cases, AINEC

Yes it is! I like that it hides the power supply and all the cords, but it does cut into the room in the case a bit. That said, it's perfect for me. I don't have to spring extra for a modular PS just to minimize extra cords. It's definitely built very well. And it looks really good.

Unless this new Advanced Analytic Services is being marketed for outside service to external customers, there is no reason to change it other than just for the sake of change. Sure buzzwords play well for differentiating among competition but that doesn't hold water internally where there is no competition unless it's competing for dumbest name change.

You should have suggest changing to Advanced Statistical Services and everyone could abbreviate the dept. name.
