I changed your vote to fix that. You get the same benefit as anyone else. I don't have the sheet with me at work, but I think you had 1st place wrapped up either way.

(in case anyone is wondering, I have always done this for others who don't vote themselves 1st, it has happened about 5-6 times before)

Oh, you're supposed to vote for yourself as first place? I was wondering why you vote for your own division, I would have guessed it would be better to avoid the situation completely and just vote cross-division...

it wasn't always this way. But a few years back this feature was introduced as an incentive to vote (by VI) and has worked well, so we've left it in.

(and, I would be remiss to not mention that this was in the PM I sent soliciting votes :naughty:)

note: same as with the first team, two best spares plus best remaining forward and defenseman based on voting. Also, I can't always stay faithful to correct wings, as the lines the players are on reflect their places in the voting. if they are both LWs, one will be listed on the right.

Well I voted for All Stars but not rankings and I would have had the Maroons a bit higher.

That said, the Maroons have a great group of forwards and good goaltending, but their defense is pretty weak

Also, thanks to everyone voting for our team. Sorry that neither of us has had much time in recent weeks.

Just relating to our team, my biggest surprise is seeing Tomas Vanek on the first team, but Jimmy Ward nowhere to be found. I really did think Ward was out best overall forward

Yeah, I thought Ward was easily our best forward. He wasn't really an offensive star, but he's got legit top-6 offense, and that's the weakest part of his game. He's more of a jack-of-all-skills. Perhaps, just like real NHL award voting, guys like Vanek, who are amazing in one aspect, get recognized for that.

Can't complainm too much though - our team got lots of love, which is appreciated. I was especially happy to see Moran and Gilmour on the first team.

Good to see my team finish 3rd, feel really good about this team and would like to thank everyone who voted me into 3rd. Should be an interesting playoff round. Hopefully someone steps up from my opponent's team and engages in a meaningful debate.

You guys finally proved where Gilmour belonged. No one did that before. I voted him pretty highly myself.

Low GP should probably keep him an MLDer, but a very good MLD role player. The kind you draft before a couple 2nd liners.

After giving your team a more thorough review in your series, I am thinking the same thing. Vanek, though definitely a better player than the Courtnalls, barely beats them in percentage scores... which I have to admit surprised me.

Ward should have probably gotten a closer look from me for round 2, as he has more or less the same best 6 percentage scores as Gagnon (outstanding percentages being the reason I selected Gagnon), and an obvious physical edge. Which one benefitted more from their linemates is another matter worth exploring.

I don't know if this needs to be corrected for posterity, but I just noticed that Winnipeg actually did have an All Star -- Alexei Zhamnov, who is mistakenly listed as a Montreal Maroon.
