I don't like a guy that is clueless on the defensive end of the rink. He's not a good fit here.

We already have plenty of forwards that are excellent on the defensive end and needed scoring badly. Put him with Elias and Zajac and his defensive won't be a problem at all.

i think you gotta give zajac a shot back with kovalchuk at this point and i would maybe try ryder on the other wing.

Did Clarkson's agents quotes/rant come after the draft?

Either way, Lou's comment here is very telling about how Clarkson's reps handled themselves. I doubt he completely walks away from the notion of bringing Clarkson back unless he took offense to how the negotiation was handled. There is a professional way to conduct business and Morris showed Lou no respect- This clown made David sound bigger than the team and that is a no no. Good on Lou for moving forward quickly!

Lamoriello on Clowe: "We were able to get size/strength. He's a top 6 fd. He's skilled. He had an off-year last year in my opinion."

There it is. Good top 6 forward depth in Clowe and Ryder. Question is, who gets the second line wing positions?

Lamroriello said he "turned the page at the draft" on David Clarkson. Felt he made "fair" offer. But did speak to Clarkson today.

Wish someone would photo-shop Lou's head on Cube's.

I'd have to say I agree with Lou here. Definitely addressed several needs today.
We have 3.8M in cap space left to sign Josefson and Henrique.

That's why he's taking the step back.

Did Zidlicky sign somewhere else?

zid isnt out. but we cant resign him right now, the last of our cap will go on Henrique and JJ. wed have to ship out a Tally or Volch to afford him.

anyone else feel like Henrique is an Offer Sheet target now that we are almost capped

Holy jeeze, I take back whatever I said about Ryder. That contract is exactly what the Devils needs for Ryder and we're back to looking like a little bit of a deeper team again.

Henrique - Loktionov - Kovalchuk
Elias - Zajac - Clowe
Zubrus - Josefson - Ryder

Plus there's a lot of room to move stuff around there if Josefson has trouble again, Clowe can't keep up, or Ryder needs to be sheltered with Elias/Zajac to make up for his D. It's nice to see a lot of interchangeable parts in a lineup and I think Deboer's gonna have a much easier time this year compared to last.

Question now is does Ryder get first PP time? He'd probably be a big help with his shot, but I wonder if that'd be too many righties.
