I'd be happy with that selection. I'd definitely start with the dogfish. I can't get into the fruity beers. Blue Point blueberry doesn't do it for me. It's drinkable though. Nothing compared to the Sam cherry wheat, which tasted like robitussin. Thankfully they stopped making it.

I prefer mescals over tequilas.

You, Bones and I can settle this over some drinks.

You mean the one on Merrick Road by Smokin Al's? Never been impressed with that place, but I'll have to start checking it out again.

Best place I've been to for selection is Syosset Beverage. Small store from the outside but it's got tons of stuff.

That's the one. I wasn't very impressed when we were moving in in the spring, but now I really appreciate their selection, especially the taps. I bought a growler from them today.

took a trip to denver recently... oh my heaven!

I highly recommend that trip for any beer lover... you can just stumble from brewery to brewery.

Great Divide Hibernation was my favorite. We hit up Breckenridge, Coors, Wynkoop, Euclid, and Great Divide while we were there.

Please tell me you sampled more than just the local beer?

Classic good news/bad news for me.

Good news: I live 20 minutes from Victory's home and can eat at the restaurant at the brewery, have freshly-made beer and fill a growler too.

Bad news: I'd give up a body part to be able to buy beer at my local Costco. But this is PA, so that's not possible....

I feel your pain. Although a Weis' just opened up here and they can somehow sell beer out of it?

I live about 5 minutes from there - will have to check it out soon.

My favorite beer distros on LI, in order:

* Bellport Cold Beer - great selection, owner and staff really know their business... long haul if you're in Nassau or western Suffolk, but worth the drive.
* Bayport Superstar Beverage - almost as good a selection as Bellport, knowledgeable staff (though not quite as passionate about beer as the Bellport people), a bit easier to get to than Bellport unless you live out east.
* Big Z Beverage (Huntington) - smaller place but still a good crop of micros and some real dedicated beer nerds on staff.
