Since when do NHL GMs only want one power forward? It's not like there are so many around.

Not that I want us to take Crouse. McDavid, Marner or Barzal is my preference.

Mixed feelings about Strome. Spezza/Thornton comparisons don't really sit well with me. I'm tired of mediocre skating.

Not sure I would agree with you on strome but no way he's an option wherever NJ picks anyways

I am not going to write Crouse off when majority of experts and scouts clearly think highly of him.

I trust them over this board. I still prefer Barzal but these guys don't stay in top 10 rankings this long by accident.

So it's basically 1, 6 or 7 now. We literally can't go any higher than 8, and we could only get to 8 if Columbus loses their final four games in regulation (not likely) and we win our final three (less likely). Basically it's us and the Flyers for 6-7 lol

Well technically we could go down another notch if a team behind us wins the lottery but even with that it's probably 8 at worst. If the Flyers beat the Pens tomorrow we're all but locked into our spot.

I think we are locked into 6th unless someone below us wins the lottery. Hoping Marner can fall to us. We need an elite offensive talent.

With our luck it'll be the Flyers moving from 7th all the way to 1st after winning the lottery.

Could you imagine the Flyers leapfrogging us and taking McDavid at 1 and then we take Crouse or a defenseman at 7? I don't think I could recover from that.

I don't think this board would survive that.

If we don't win the lottery I wouldn't mind seeing him go to Arizona. They're pretty much the lesser of all other evils in the top 5. Edmonton doesn't need another #1 pick. Buffalo shouldn't get rewarded for their blatant tanking. Toronto would eat him alive. Carolina I guess I could live with, although I'd rather not have another elite center in the division.

Yes because the last generation talent #87 really did wonders for the trophy cabinet in the steel city.!! How many cups did they win with two elite centers just asking. Now coaches and gm's are getting hired so they can resemble what's left of that pore franchise that wasted these great players. Sure they pack the house and sell jerseys, but with that we have done pretty good. I like the way we do things here let's continue do that.

I don;t see Crouse falling past the flyers, potentially at #7 but think that he could get nabbed by Toronto (if McEichel and Strome are already gone). They could be picking between Hanifin, Marner and Crouse. IN this case, Marner may be too much like Nylander size wise and they could see Crouse as possibly stepping in near term as has has NHL size already.

I also think that Carolina could go with Crouse if the first four are McEichel, Strome, and Hanifin. I think they's pass on Marner as they already have some non-physical guys in Skinner and Lindholm. They really could use a big power winger type.

Otherwise, I think Crouse is too much of a reach for the top 3. Buff will take one of McEichel. Arizona the other unless someone else wins the lottery. If they fall back to #3, Arizona may go Strome but also could take Marner for the Domi/Dvorak trio. Edmonton should go Hanifin but may be intrigued by Strome. I doubt they go Crouse at #3 or #4.

If the top 5 go McEichel, Hanifin, Strome, and Marner, then I'm going Barzal at #6. He's just a better fit for our organization than another LW with size. Barzal has speed and offensive creativity - something that we lack in both our current centers and in our prospect pool.

I like Barzal's game and think we could use a talent like him in our organization.
He's not on the big side though and he's not scoring many goals yet.
It's something to consider when there are bigger players who have good shots and scoring ability.

The knock on Rantanen by some scouts is they don't think he will be a goal scorer in the NHL. That he'll a lot of stuff but scoring.
We as a franchise are starving for goals, is he the guy we take at 6th or 7th?

they've won 1 Cup, made the Finals another time, and are a very good team year in and year out.....

You really Think they are a good team? So we go back to 08/09. So you really think they got the trophys when you consider how good these two were.
Connor McDavid isent as important as it wound be for our young d to continue develop and be impact players.

Fwiw, Pronman has Konecny as the highest ranked foward after Strome and Marner. Barzal and Rantanen are pretty far down his list.

have the Sharks not been a good team the past handful of years? they don't even have 1 Finals appearance.

He's certainly a good option.
Our buddy Craig Button compares him to former Devil and NHL star Pat Verbeek.

I think he's injured right now and out.

Doesn't matter, but he's a cousin of Bo Horvat.

***Can you plse copy & paste Prnman's list since he is espn insider?

Pronman had the Devils drafting rantanen in his mock draft from a couple weeks back.

I'll post more of his list later. He stresses that his mock draft is what he thinks would happen, but not his personal rankings. He has Rantanen in the 20's in his rankings.

You're joking, right?

Last I checked, you need to score goals to win games.

yes, having Good 'D' is very important but what good is 'D' if the scoreboard reads '0' on it?

Connor will definitely provide scoring(and then some) sooner rather than years later since he will go down to the Minors for about a year(minimum).

Barzal had a goal but was -1 with 4 PIMs in last nights 5-3 loss.
