A lot of NHL clubs don't care about Worlds and send their kids to the AHL instead... wouldn't suprise me if Reichel, Peterka and Bokk were all AHL bound.
With Bokk now playing in the DEL he is definitely an option.
Lean Bergmann who would have been a strong candidate (Olympics or not) will not be available as it stands today.
While he is recuperating from a leg injury he was diagnosed with a heart muscle inflammation that will likely keep him sidelined for several months.

Seems like Bokk is doing good. 7 points in 7 games.
Do you think Michaelis is good enough to be on the team? (If Marlies let go of him to WC).
Bokk plays pretty well. Still has a few things to figure out, but he really seems to flourish on the bigger ice.
Michaelis should be good enough, but he has not played a game since November. I guess he is injured, because if he was a healthy scratch all this time I would suspect he would have left the Marlies to play in Europe.
So, I am not sure if he will be an option.

Wonder if Stützle goes. He will definitely be the best offensive player in the tournament no question, and it will be a insane boost to german hockey.

There is literally zero to guarantee that. What if the jets miss the playoffs and Kyle Connor decides to go for the Americans.

Or Kane, DeBrincat, Larkin, Robertson , J.Q. Hughes. And it is just american posibilities. How about another teams ... There is Meier and Hischier for swis, and more and more a other top level players ..

The roster for phase 1 of the preparation for the tournament has been announced. Not many of the players will make the final roster, since most of the best players have not finished their season yet.
The only player who is an absolute lock to make the team is Kahun. There are maybe a handful of others who have an actual shot to make it, but it will depend on who becomes available and how healthy everyone will be.

Can't find anything right now, but I think I read after their season ended, that they were nursing some minor injuries and would take a little rest before potentially joining the national team.
But again, I can't find a confirmation of this right now, so take it with a grain of salt, because I may be misremembering.
I tried to make a list of the players who still might end up joining the team.
I am sure I missed a couple, and probably have some guys on there who no longer play for the national team (I really have to start keeping a list somewhere with the guys who have retired from the national team) or likely won't be available due to AHL playoffs for example. But they should still be able to create a decent roster from this pool, combined with the ones already with the team.

For the Goalies I would say: Qual der Wahl
If Grubauer wants, there's no other choice for #1
But 2nd and 3rd is hard:
- Do we want the best, than take Niederberger and Strahlmeier.
- If the future get their chance, take Hand & Pantkowski

So that's Seider, Grubauer and Stützle who have all expressed that they want to play for Germany.
That would definitely make the team much stronger. Seider and Stützle in particular will be huge upgrades.
Another few changes have been made to the roster.
Pietta was injured, I think. Otherwise I am pretty sure he would still be there.
Still not many players on the roster that I expect to be there in the end.
EDIT: I am really glad that there are still a bunch of young(ish) defensmen on the team, because some of them have to step up in the next few years.
Bender, Wagner and Rogl could still become usefull players for the national team, but Huss, Hüttl, Karrer, Münzenberger and Zimmermann are really the ones I am looking to. If 3 of these guys could turn into reliable dmen for the next 10 years that would be huge for the national team.
