The guy is 23 and has not made a big progress since first being called up. Even Greg Pateryn is ahead in the depth chart now. If he doesn't improve dramatically he won't be in the NHL.

He's playing his 22 year old season. Way too early to write off a d-man. Pateryn is turning 25 before next year so he SHOULD be more polished, but Tinordi is bigger, tougher, more mobile and more skilled...will take a couple more years to be polished. Start him as #6 next year and Pateryn at 7.

Scouts that follow the AHL have told me he's made consistant progress the last 3 years, he's a dominant player with his style down there. In order to apply it to the NHL level, he needs to play there long term over more than 4-5 games and play with a puck mover.

How many years they been putting future watch issue out?
20+ years.

20+ years.

Tinordi's ceiling is higher than Pateryn, but, not sure he's more 'skilled' though. Pateryn's not the best puck handler, far from it, but, at least he can make plays with it, Tinordi seems to panic everytime he got the puck, and his first pass is, so far, mediocre at best. I know he's a defensive defenseman, but, at least, Pateryn is producing at the AHL level, Tinordi ain't.

Now, he's turning 23, and Pateryn 25, 2 years can make a lot of difference. I just wonder if Tinordi will be able to improve his decision making, NHL seems too fast for him right now.

Hope they'll continue being patient with him, but, if they can get something good for him (late 1st in 2015 or a good forward prospect), I wouldn't mind either. He's not as untouchable as he once was.

I'm still wondering why McCarron is lower though, he's having a pretty good season, and getting better every year...

They can't be as high on McCarron as we are. He as predominately ranked #1 here, but #5 in future watch. The rankings come from Montreal's front office.

Well, it's someone from the organization yes. But we don't know who. Could be the list of one of our amateur scouts. Doesn't mean it's the official group opinion of the entire management staff.

I don't read the mag and never have so I don't know if they are getting their rankings from someone inside the Habs or not. But I was reading this thread on past THN future watch lists,

http://hfboards.mandatory.com/showthread.php?t=651684&highlight=thn+future+watch

As someone that has been ranking Hab prospects for HF and other sites over the last 12+ years, I can attest to how difficult it is to have a good ranking and how much of a waste these rankings end up being as in the end they are more or less just for fun.

I don't think McCarron has ever been ranked #1 on here. He didn't even make the top 5 at the start of the year.

The only time Tinordi panics a bit if behind the goal line under forecheck. When he's skating up ice he makes nice tape to tape passes up.

His decision making is fine, he didn't make any dumb plays the 5 games he was here and was not on the ice for any goals against, he just needs to adjust to a more up tempo game.

Last year they said it came from Lapointe, don't know how they ranked them this year

Most every poster has McCarron either 1 or 2. Read first page of this thread

Good work there. :handclap:

And guys, please. Before posting projected rosters full of prospects, have a look at these lists. More than half our prospects won't have an NHL career. It's been like this forever, for every team in the league. That's just how it is.

This draft is very well known to have been special and an outlier in the amount of quality players thate came out of the first round. The truth is Andrei Kostitsyn had a huge amount of talent, and he did play in the NHL (on a 1st line of a 1st team in conference team). He's not a bust by a long shot, it's just that almost every players from that list turned out great.Kostitsyn could've been great honestly.

Anyway now that it's been so many years since the 2003 draft it's not hard to see Anaheim won this massively. They basically drafted two franchise players and their future right there.Philadelphia was the competition but they blew it and Los Angeles inherited both Carter and Richards + Brown, but in the end neither of them were the true top guys from LA.

Wow the names change but EVERYTHING else stays the same. Is Subban our next Markov? By the time Subban hits his stride Markov will retire and then he will be our only decent dman on the team.

Hehehe, not exactly, but probably close enough.

Kostitsyn was a major mistake considering the talent all around 10th. Parise, Corey Perry, Getzlaf, Carter.

Pouilot textbook reason why you don't draft players who are playing with a superstar. Crosby made him in junior

where's crosby ? :dunno:

as AMAZING as it is to see all those substantial names on that 2003 draft list, i mean really, my god, 80% of them are STILL SUPERstars in the NHL, what a draft

but the funniest part is seeing who DID go first overall lmao.
