Lebrone James is signed to a 154 million contract that’s just 4 years in length.

The idea that NHLers are grossly overpaid for making 10-14 million doesn’t seem tons hold up to much scrutiny imo

Big difference when NBA has like 7-8 actual players and then a few guys sitting on bench never playing. The NHL actually runs all 20 players during a game hence players make less per. Not sure league revenues but I believe NBA has a bigger contract to for TV.

I think this is a phenomenal deal for Matthews, the player. For the Leafs.. boy I don't get this. Seems like they went high on the hit and low on the term.. everything Matthews would've wanted.

The only problem is Matthews is getting 5-6 years @ $11.5 M. Per Mackenzie. Why is he giving up 2-3 UFA years for $500K. He’s not. Reality will hit for Leafs fans soon. Great team but that’s the problem — tough to keep them together.

ok, but if Dubas signs all of Matthews/Nylander/Marner....while keeping the cap manageable enough to fill other holes....shouldn't we be happy with a 5-7 years run?
