Kadri was center for JVR today , at least thats what I thought I heard on Leafs today

He should be. I'd play him where hes most comfortable and lets see what hes got. It's gotta be different from playing center for the last 10+ years, to all of a sudden move to the wing. You're in different spots than you normally are used to.

And when has Holzer shown he can play better than Komi in the NHL?

My personal opinion. :)
And I know ahl doesn't translate to nhl but he is top notch and deserves a chance. Komi has had too many and is brutal all round. I can't think of a time where he excelled for a full 60 minutes

I wonder which of those players over 30 will see regular ice time. I think Liles will, but the others I don't think so unless we run into some injury problems.

I do not think Kadri will be a starting centre anytime soon. I guarantee that Bozie will start off in between Phil and Joffrey.

Lupul.....Bozak.....Kessel
MacArthur.....Grabovksi.....JVR
Kulemin.....McClement.....Kadri
Komarov.....Steckel.....Brown

Gunnarsson.....Phaneuf
Franson.....Liles
Holzer.....Gardiner when healthy
Komisarek

Komi will be a healthy scratch a lot if he doesn't play his top game. Imo him and Holzer fight for that 5th/6th d-spot all year. Reilly doesn't play.

Frattin is good and I think it is a toss up between him and Leo Komarov. Imo I like Frattin more (bias) but Komarov is more suited for the bottom 6 roll. Frattin is a first 9 type player and there is virtually no room for him. So don't bother implementing him in your lines. Sad to say.

Goalies are a given. But I think Scrivens will be the more dependable , I get a good feeling when I see him play.
I think he will be centering. Carlyle said his faceoff skills are pretty good and he even beat vets at it.

Kadri has always been a good faceoff guy,

The fact that he hasn't been great in the first 100 faceoffs of his nhl career doesn't really mean much.

its not faceoffs though. He is centering pretty much two snipers (Lupul is a pwf but he has sniper tendencies obviously) Kadri should be centering a Macdaddy or kulemin. Someone that has some grit to them as well. I don't know if you know what I mean.

Lines should be.....

Lupul Bozak Kessel
MacArthur Grabovski Kulemin
van Riemsdyk Kadri Frattin
Komorov McClement Brown

Steckel

Phaneuf Gunnarson
Liles Franson
Kostka* Komisarek

Fraser... * Gardiner back in when healthy

Scrivens
Reimer

Could be a long year, but time to see what the young lads can do.
The worst thing that happens is we don't make the playoffs and have a shot at MacKinnon.....a real 1St line centre!!!!

GO Leafs Go !!

My Guess:

Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
Kulemin - Grabovski - MacArthur
JVR - Kadri - Frattin/Komarov
Brown - McClement - Komarov/Orr
Steckel

Phaneuf - Gunnarson
Gardiner - Liles
Franson - Reilly
Holzer

Scrivens
Reimer

I think Frattin will be scratched periodically for lackluster play, allowing Komarov to fill in. When Komarov is up, Orr is in. I don't know how Steckel fits in if we have McClement.

I think one of Komisarek or Franson is moved, most likely Komi, somehow. Reilly is better off with a better coach in sheltered minutes in TOR. MJ is terrible now and I don't see a point at this point in the year to send him down to continue to lose, only to be sent to the Marlies in 2 months when the WHL goes to the playoffs. Might as well let a Norris winner lead him along. I don't believe he is too weak for the NHL. 6' 200lbs is fine. He's a great athlete. He just needs to fine tune some of his soft junior defensive mistakes. Learn to play with strength. Not just feather the puck out of the zone.

If Thornton and Seguin can be successful with well sheltered mins as a rookie, so can Reilly. He can also still play on the 2nd PP with Kadri, Liles, Grabovski and Kulemin.

Snipe - MacIntyre???? The Leafs never did invite him or sign him.....

indigo - Ranger is on an AHL contract - therefore the Leafs would have to sign him to an NHL contract do they not?????

I like the combos the Tor Star had on their practice blog for today. I also like how Carlyle may actually use Orr too.

re: Reilly - I think a year of junior would still do him good.

I vehemently disagree with this sentiment.

I think this is what we'll have as well with Rielly replacing Gardiner for the first few games if Gardiner isn't quite ready.
