Awesome! That is a good deal if he doesn't improve one bit. It is a fantastic deal if he does.

The Canes have Jaccob Slavin holding down the #1 for the next 8 years. I'm beyond pumped. If Francis had waited one more year he would be looking at an Ekblad extension instead.

I had thought $5.5. Nice deal. This probably puts Pesce in that $4m neighborhood at least though, which is a little worrisome.

This buys out, what, 4 years of UFA and he still signed for a reasonable amount? These are the players you sign for 7-8 years. Not 31 year olds.

Glad to get him locked up for a while. Wrose then I wanted (I can dream right) not worse then I feared

Keeps him in a Cane's jersey for a long time. Now some more :)

This is amazing work by GMRF. I look forward to seeing if he can get a few more done this summer. We are going to be a playoff team for a long long time.

Relative to his closest comparable, H. Lindholm, Slavin is getting an extra ~100k per to give up an extra two years of UFA. Good deal in that respect.

Love this deal. Way to go GMRF. :yo:

With Slavin living in Raleigh during the offseason, a now cornerstone player for this franchise, can we just go ahead and give him the 'C'?

They are holding a press conference at 1:30pm today, wonder if maybe they will announce him as captain.
