I do wonder if there was ever a ROR for Skinner++ deal on the table that the Canes lost when St. Louis agreed to pay his July 1 Bonus.
Would have been sweet.

Yeah, I need to eat a huge plate of crow for arguing with @What the Faulk on that.
I'm inclined to agree with you but will say that I think Pu will turn out to be a good player. I liked him but with our pool of players at his position he was the one that went. The most important thing to me about this trade: this is Botts saying "We aren't trying to fail and get ping pong balls, we are going to make every effort to be a real competitive team now, not 3 years from now". That's really all I could ask for.****ing horrible return. The best piece coming back for a 30 goal scorer is a B prospect. We’ll regret this in both the near and long term.

You guys will like Cliff Pu. He's 6-3, 200 pound and fast. He has showed plenty of skill the past two years in the OHL, 86 and 84 points.
Now, I'd say it's unlikely he makes the roster this year but in a year you have a skilled center to work with.
What type of player is Cliff Pu? What’s his upside?
Seems the Canes didn't want to pay Skinner,so why would they give up assets for the privilege of overpaying O'reilly.I do wonder if there was ever a ROR for Skinner++ deal on the table that the Canes lost when St. Louis agreed to pay his July 1 Bonus.

Tons of speed, smart two way player. Even more speed.
