Hijacking the thread a little bit to welcome our Nordic neighbors into you-know-what. We're both finally in. Sorry for the off-topic, jag ska lämnä nu.

Was confused for a bit thinking this was hockey related.

Absolutely wishing we’d stayed out of it but thanks for the warm welcome, I guess.

I watched about fifty-two minutes of hockey yesterday between Malmö and Växjö and Malmö won.

It will be HV71 and Oskarshamn in the qualifying series.

Molgaard's stats look pretty good for a kid who turned 19 last month. Do you expect him to spend next year in Sweden or come to NA and play in the AHL?

Also, what type of game does he play? Is it likely to translate to the NHL?

They stopped calculating average attendance partway through the list, but if the 6135 figure is correct, then Luleå had 99.8% attendance for their games. Which could be right: 22 out of 26 home games were sold out. Considering that we’ve packed our arena for two really mediocre regular seasons, the GM has expressed a wish of expanding it with another 1000 seats.

Thursday wasn’t the first time Växjö couldn’t fill their arena for a playoff game on account of their fans opting for floorball instead. Dammit, they don’t deserve a hockey team, much less a successful one.

Games yesterday:
SAIK won against Linköping in OT. Think it was decided in the fith period.
Frölunda won against Leksand 4-2. Also very tight game. Could have gone either way. Would not have been a good look for Frölunda to lose both their games at home to start the series.

HV71 with a win against IKO. Think it's 3-2 in games now. Very close series.
Djurgården seem to be pulling away with another win. Think they are up 3-0 now?

Was that expected?

Yes, they’ve pretty much been parked at the bottom through the entire season, and finished 16 points behind HV71 who finished second to last. Their team was bad, I didn’t think they would make it through relegation.

That being said, “conventional hockey wisdom” dictates that the longer you’ve spent in the basement, the more time you’ve had to prepare for relegation play and thus have an advantage going in against the other team that might have been in playoff contention just the other day, now finding themselves fighting for their lives in the top division. HV71 hasn’t had a good season by any means (they lost all but two road games the entire year), but they had a much better roster on paper and could at least hope to turn the season around and maybe even push for a playoff spot with that. Alas, HV71 should also have been well aware they would have to fight relegation for quite some time before the fact.

Oskarshamn did take the series to a game 7, and for me at least, all bets are off at that point. Both teams had a chance. But HV71 ran away with that chance decisively.

Damn mora is annoying to play against but Djurgården is doing their thing and is up 2-1 and would be fantastic with 3-1 tomorrow.
It's the defenders producing great in offence, Axel Andersson, Kevin Karlsson and Kalle Loponen to say three.
Axelsson has been amazing to watch lately for Djurgården in both zones, can be a good two way back.

Rensfeldt that has been getting alot of attacks during the season which he earned because he didnt play his best game, we knew that he could do better then that same with Daniel Brodin both has been really good with Rensfeldt maybe being the best forward in Djurgården so far, Linus Klasen and Marcus Kruger it is time for you to show the magic tomorow, you cant just live on defenders, juniors and brodin, rensfeldt.
Gradin doesnt do much so why even bother, Liss 2 goals but always a threat especially on PP with his shot.

But it has felt like they're reading Klasen and PP's doesnt become as good as usual with Klasen.
Juniors been fantasic, glad Odelius is back but damn Linus Eriksson can play some hockey.
Must be top 3 most underrated prospect what a smart player already, Wersäll is doing good to and Viktor Eklund born late 2006 is playing extremly well with 4 points on 8 games and those points were really great and important.
Andrén in goal needs to step up abit, we cant have it like the last time that you nearly get a heart-attack.
Hope we get this tomorrow, damn Mora they are tough to beat.

Rögle lead 2-0 in games.

This is great.

By God, I usually take pride in Luleå losing to the better/best team…

…. But Växjö having success is plain bad for hockey. Please, Rögle, go home and finish them off. Give us an interesting final, leave Växjö be an unfortunate parenthesis in the history books.
